Disney is going strongly into the live-action remakes, and this was one of their better ones. A few new turns gave some added depth to the well-known story. Voices ranged from good to okay, I found Josh Gad's casting to be excellent. The transformed inhabitants of the castle were a bit of a shock, faces in objects look quite weird when it's not a cartoon! If you liked the original and don't mind that it's not exactly the same, I'd recommend it.
This release of Pinocchio is another great reissue from Disney's "Signature Collection". The movie itself looks & sounds fantastic. It comes with some nice new bonus features about the film (as well as the previously offered features) and an Oswald cartoon short.
The movie's 25th anniversary is celebrated with a new BluRay release. The film still looks fantastic in the format. The upgrades to this one come in new special features including a tribute to Alan Menken and other historic & 'backstage' footage.
This release compiles every episode from season three of Castle, a drama about a murder-mystery writer and a homicide detective who team up to solve unusual crimes in New York City, and their professional relationship soon crosses the line into romance.
The final ending of "Castle" came as a surprise to the show people, it may have also been such for the DVD producers. Aside from the episodes you have small expected features (bloopers, a few commentaries & lost scenes). The only big one is of the cast playing one of those 'locked mystery room' kind of live-action games together. It is okay as a quiet sendoff for the show.
This is a great Disney movie, one of their best. Cleverly, it has the elements to appropriately appeal to children, while also carrying a story for adults in the audience. Smart and funny.
The bonus features are quite good, giving you background information on the story development and some elements that were dropped, or that you may have missed.
I'm a big fan of Kevin Smith, and this movie is just about at the top of my favorites of his work. Love the story, love the cameos and callbacks to past films & real-world stuff. I can watch this again and again.
My only possible quibble, and it's a small one, is that it's a pretty bare-bones BluRay release. No special features other than commentary- oddly the "Making of" for this movie is found on the 15th anniversary "Clerks" BluRay!
I had watched all of the features from the DVD of this movie plenty of times, so I didn't really miss them. I would suggest that in either format, to get this movie!
When this series was originally announced for broadcast, I was very excited about it. Despite getting yanked around a bit by CBS during its summer run, I was able to see it all and thoroughly enjoyed it. I've also enjoyed watching it again; even though I already know the twist in the next-to-last episode, I still enjoy watching the story unfold and trying to fill in how it plays out, knowing what will happen.
The set has a few nice bonus features, including some so-called 'webisodes', Internet based content that was available at the time of the broadcast. I had not seen that originally at the time, so it was nice to add it along with the show itself.
I'm not totally sure how much significance there is to how it is subtitled "The DVD Edition". It is listed as unrated, so there may be more graphic content that had to be cut for CBS on air. I don't have original recordings to compare. But to me it still has the fun feel from its first airing.
This is probably the best-known work by Monty Python, outside of the TV show, so there's a good chance you're familiar with the movie itself. The BluRay looks great. It includes a few new bonus features on the disc, along with a number of ones that have been seen before.
Plus, it has the catapult, and the farm animals. I haven't tried it yet, but that convinced me to upgrade my older copy for this set!
This was a nice movie, with fun elements for kids and adults. You have a Charlie Brown story blended with a Snoopy story, working pretty well in total. The animation style is far different from the old TV specials, but looks good. There are some good bonus features with it.
I got the LE gift set with the pilot Snoopy plush, a great extra that sealed the deal for me.
This movie continued a nearly perfect run of fun and good for the family movies from Pixar. It seemed a bit overlooked on its theatrical run, but I found it to be something of a hidden gem. A nicely entertaining story with some good lessons mixed among its cute characters.
The BluRay looks beautiful, technically well-done as ever. Special Features are pretty good, a mix of some interesting behind the scenes programs and some truly kid-oriented fare.
