Nice case

Nice case & toughest I've seen in a "soft" type. Good value, plenty of basic space to store your charger, papers, flash drives, etc. The handle for placing it on top of your luggage is neat but invites easy theft. Well made product. It was also my only choice when I bought a laptop with a 17" screen in store. Sometimes you get lucky.

It's a shame they almost have a monopoly on mice & keyboards but Logitech products in general just work! Every product is in an easy PNP. This mouse is great & cheap. No pad needed, it tracks on every surface I've tried. Only one battery, that can last a year under normal use. You can easily game with it too. Simple plug & play, works on any computer with a USB port. Great buy at $12.99.

Good Value, But...

This is a nice low cost option if you want a 17" screen under $700. The price is basically for the screen size. Hardware it compares to many 15.6" brands/models that have more features, better hardware, better configured. This has what you need to do everything, including light gaming. Things it misses is only 1, 8GB DDR4 2133 ram stick which slows the memory to single channel. The 1 TB hard drive makes it very slow during the 5 minute boot time in stock form! The wifi is an older chip with an incredibly weak max of 72mp/s, while the hard wire option is a full 1G.
Out of the box it has an OEM upgraded version of Windows 10 Home which took 3 hours to finish setup. Between that & the weak wi-fi most would return it by now. As a tech, I immediately installed a Samsung 250GB SSD & removed all the "bloatware" this came with. After that, it runs nicely for what it is. An aftermarket wi-fi stick like the Linksys WUSB6300 can get the speed up to 144mb/s.
Overall, I predict a high return rate just based on the weak wi-fi & lengthy setup. If you have patience, it's a good deal for a huge screen, HDMI out, USB 3.1, Bluetooth 4.0, & some upgrades will future proof it.
Simple in design, easy to work on, a bit pricey if you expect a "turn key" laptop. Expect to wait at least 3 hours for it to finish updating & do remove a ton of "bloatware" to reduce the boot time if you aren't going to put an SSD in.
Side note, add another 8GB stick of ram to get dual channel operation.

This is the cheapest I would go in terms of price/quality in a true home theater receiver. Always read the back to see how many watts go in, that's how many come out. Not the fancy 700w on the box. So a true 52w x 5 is what you get @ max volume @ 8 ohm or 70w x 5 @ 4 ohm. I bought it as a step up from a Sony DE635 & it is better. Harmonically it is not for everyone's liking & tuning with the EQ is tedious. If you don't mind too much treble, & hissing "s's" the sound is crystal. My issue is it doesn't make good use of my floor 150w mains at all & puts 90% at the center. Sometimes it sounds ok, it's weird, & I probably will return this due the frustration in trying to maintain a base line of consistent audio out of this. The bass is plenty but hard to find the right setting. That said, great guts, bad decoder for my needs, forget the microphone for levels, it's a joke. Set it manually. That's the other issue, no HDMI TV means a very long set up using the remote. I have such a TV, however the pass through takes too long to fire up, another annoyance. So I run the audio via optical for now. I may try a Sony again, but this time I will look at Magnolia. The sales rep I had didn't think I could afford anything in there & didn't offer to show me. I would say this unit is just ok with treble that needs to be tamed.

I've used all brands of SSD's in the past, so consider this a professional opinion. On white paper, online reviews this controller #cs1311 is the budget line, however in performance it beats the more expensive #cs2111 series drives. Longevity? Never had one go bad yet on any brand. Speed wise this drive out performs the Samsung EVO 850 in the "real world". That's my tests via Crystal Disk on my system. Mileage may vary but the speed is what it is. It hits the specs on the box easily & consistently. The entire CS1311 series drives are just awesome drives. Why pay more? This is the best middle road drive you can buy for the money. Spending more on Samsung, is more paying for the name than anything you can time in real life. Ease of installation is another key feature, even comes with a spacer for thicker drive bays. You get a free Acronis download to use to clone your old drive & you can keep using it's other features as well after you're done. I've installed 10 of these for customers with zero issues.

I bought this to replace a Q-See system. All wiring was existing RG-59 BNC, so connecting cams wasn't the immediate issue. First is price being attractive for an 8 channel system that runs both HD & TVL type cameras, with 4 720p cams. I even bought the 2pack to make 6, figuring I could use my 2 720p Q-See HD cams to make up a new 8 cam, all HD system. Mine has only 2 HD channels & 6 TVL type. So there was the idea, new 8 HD cam system for under $400. After spending a good many hours figuring out the DVR's menu that appeared to look so functional & easy, my HD cams did not work, but that wasn't the worst. The cams will not mount at even close to a true 90 degrees aiming straight, making mounting impossible in my & most cases where the sofet is the best mounting area. This is for 2 reasons, one the focal length was zoomed at about 4x digital. So, I'm mounting about 13' off the ground & mounted under the sofet, just under the gutter, you are looking at 20' of grass in your face & a bit of the street from 50' away. It's a pixelated, grainy, picture unless you mount it across the porch & re-angle it to aim under it, then it looks "normal" from a distance of 150' to the street. It brags you can put a 4TB HDD in, but fails to mention that it voids the entire warranty on every piece of that package! It records/plays back at a max of 15 FPS, so all moves at half speed. DVR software while mouse friendly is lacking much in features. The cam mounts are poorly made, aluminum, ball & socket joints with 3 closely drilled holes on a maybe 2.5" mount. You really need to use a rag & a pair of channel locks to tighten them enough to stay. By the way, if you have no prior experience installing or using a CCTV system, stop reading & buy the Swann or Lorex unit here. Directions are a "poster" folded with some basic info & links to the site that barely works, except for the chat to support. There are no other types of cams made by Night Owl in that format sold on their site. There is no working video tutorial. I have experience so this wasn't a big issue. The picture the cams give is as good as any when you back them up to a ridiculous point & the angle seems narrow. I didn't need the wiring but if I had it worked & it is real RG-59, just braided coax though with heavier shielding than others. Better quality wiring than expected. I would stay away from this company in general. They claim for security reasons if you get locked out for some reason, you need to send the DVR in to be unlocked with a proof of purchase or something crazy. I know from trying them on the phone before for a customer they are impossible to work with, hung up on me accidentally several times & took hours to reach anyone. The chat support now added worked ok. The staff are mostly rude to you, don't care & one told me "as you wish", when I threatened to return it. I had to Google everything on this unit. They finally got their wish & I returned it. no more Night owl or Q-see, EVER for me. Swann, never had an issue with, has good wire, support, from prior experience. Just a bit pricey for me at $599 for the 8 cam system. Honestly, real systems don't come pre-boxed. You buy it all as a "kit" or separate items & it starts in the $1500 range for an 8 cam 720p system running on RJ-45. I don't think Best Buy gets into that high end of security cameras at this time. Most don't need them. Another piece of advice, all these systems in a box companies have 2 things in common, the remote via phone app won't work right or the remote control. They like you to use a mouse they supply or your own wired optical.

I have to be honest this would be a 5 star laptop if you NEVER need or UPGRADE the hard drive. I repair laptops & this is the 1st one I actually bought new. Also the first time I considered an HP given most that come in my shop are just a few days out of warranty with a bad hard drive. Sure it's a huge 1TB, but it's a 5400rpm HGST Travelstar piece of junk. That's what is in 99% of HP's is one of those drives. However, HP had me sold on the idea of 6 GB of DDR4 @ 1866mhz, along with the R5 graphics & The newest AMD A-10 9600P 2.4 Quad core APU. With an HDMI out, it can be a decent little gamer, which leads to the hard drive. This laptop is held back a lot due to the super slow stock hard drive & I knew this buying it. I bought a PNY 240GB while I was there to fix it. First I booted it up & went through the motions of "setup", that took an hour to finish completely. Updates, registration, & such. I then removed the stock hard drive & did a "clean install" of Windows 10 x64 Home from a Microsoft flash without a glitch except for the fact that the touch screen has no function. Reason? No driver & not recognized by Windows, period. Support tried but didn't seem knowledgeable enough on this subject as I have run into similar before with HP laptops. This time I'm striking out with finding a driver so far to make touch work again. HP Support claims she will upgrade this issue. I was told to put the original drive in to have touch work. No way. The CPU is as good as a 6th gen i5 & with ddr4, it needs an SSD or a 7200rpm REAL hard drive to get out of it's way. Does it work stock? Yepper's & it's a great value to all who don't care about wasting all the power under the hood. Do not drop this even lightly with a stock drive! It's mounted in the front, left, bottom as viewed from the upright position, with zero shock protection. Not on piece of rubber, not that it matters much on a mechanical drive, nor should one drop their laptop.
What makes it a 5 star is the price for the latest AMD has to offer, with DDR4, not like some say it's DDR3L. I had mine open. With the stock HDD you have 1TB which is plenty for most. One quoted "this is a laptop for the masses", & he is right. For the price, grab it while you can. It went up $100 since May's release. Spend the extra & grab the PNY 240GB there at Best Buy too & make it a "race car" for under $400 if you can install it yourself like me. Just "clone" the drive & the touch will work as normal. I wanted a "clean install" is all. Some rate the graphics as poor. Ahem, no. The lower end LED at 1366 x 768 gives an adequate picture but that's not how to get the most. Use the HDMI port & put it up on the "big screen". The AMD R5 graphics can do 1080p with no issues on my 32". Audio as well is run right through the AMD chipset. No frills notebook, lightweight, fast, well built (aside from the hdd part), very impressed overall out of box. Stock speakers are not bad, the unit is impressively strong but flexible plastic type material, very durable I would say. Keyboard is great, solid, full sized with a number pad. I gave it an honest 2 stars due to honest issues unresolved & repeated by HP on a few other occasions. HP personnel had a part in this 2 star. On a notebook that doesn't "flip" or come in 2, touch is kinda dumb anyway? Better off putting that into an HD screen with no touch, next time HP. A few cons are key features in most laptops. Missing is Bluetooth, 10/100 Ethernet (really, no 1000), has an IR radio that isn't told about, so you can receive files from any IR source unless you change some settings or turn it off. It would be ok if there was security of some kind on the IR but it seems open to anything in range. Only 3 USB ports but all are USB 3.0. A single SD slot & a headphone jack is all for connections. Pros are mentioned, I like having an HDMI port & hardware close to what a desktop would run as far as power & speed go. A DVD burner is a cool thing these days as well as that nice keyboard. See what that touch screen caused? Lmao! For under $400, running Windows 10, 1TB HDD, 6GB DDR4 RAM, it's a great buy if you just want to use it as is. Has the internals found in $500 up laptops. In fact, the CPU alone costs nearly what the whole laptop cost me. 5 star "stock" buy, 3 in reality for missing the major basic things laptops have. This is a REAL review people. With this unit you get a working laptop, entry sorta level features, webcam, bloatware to delete, good WIFI chip, DVD burner, loads of space, plenty of memory, Windows 10 Home x64, & it's probably fast enough for most as it is. First times using it out of the box it was good but the stock HDD was just holding this new, faster AMD APU & DDR4 RAM back, actually making it feel slow to get going. SSD in now, no touch but everything else works fine & the speed is quite blinding. It plows through installs like my 8 core desktop. Using the WIFI, it easily downloads up to my 75mb/s FIOS in the "status". It never peaked the 100 portion of the Ethernet, so that is a non issue. The SSD cost about $70 for a 240GB PNY CS1311, more room than I use per day. Stock or modified, it's a STEAL just for the APU & having a DDR4 board to start with. It's a laptop you can buy & still get what you paid for it 2 years later if you take care of it. This is day 2 of ownership, year 20 of experience with PC's & laptops.

Replaced my RAID array with an SSD & one of these. Disk speed rating didn't drop as I expected. With the SSD as boot & main apps, I put my games & such on this 3TB & have no increased load times or benchmark drops. In fact my FPS went up losing the RAID. The drive chatters a little, no worries. The larger SATA drives tend to do that from new. I also run it in performance mode, so hence more noise. Since install, fragmentation is low to none, with zero read/write errors. Seagate quality.

Is this compatible for the HP Pavilion TouchSmart 15 Notebook PC

Yep, just know what you are doing taking the HP apart. Use the software provided to clone your drive, skip the "recovery" partition, it's a waste of space. Don't freak out if your drive is a 1TB, as long as you haven't used more than 500GB, the software will fit everything onto it.

Will this fit without any tweaking for a Asus X550 (PC)?

It should. All the Asus laptops I've worked on had no special connector for the hard drive. The drive housing is thinner than a regular drive by about 1-2mm. PNY gives you a spacer, Samsung does not, however it usually isn't an issue that can't be solved with a little thought.

What size vga fan is needed for replacment?

I have a Amd Radeon HD 6500 Series. The card works fine however the fan stopped working. I have looked all over and even contacted the maker and I can not find out anywhere what size fan is needed for replacement. I do not have the fan it self, so I can't go by that. I'm not sure how to measure where the fan was. If the fan size goes by the distance from each screw mount? It is a 3 screw mount fan. Or does it go by the diameter if the fan from center to the end of the blade? At this time my only option is to replace the fan, can't afford a new card.
All you need is airflow. Find a PC fan, like a 80mm or smaller & mount it to the top of the cooler heat sink. Do this by finding screws (small sheet metal ones are good) that will go through the holes of the fan & catch the fins of the heat sink. In other words, you're lining the fan up so it fits over the main cooling fins more than the solid block part. Then the screws should not break the fins but have enough drag to hold the fan down on top. Make sure it all fits in the case right & wire the fan or plug it in to a spare plug. The size of the fan can be slightly or hugely larger than the original one. It depends on room inside & effectively, I would say no larger than 80mm in your case. A cpu fan, exhaust fan, any PC fan will do for the most part. Fans spin counter clockwise when properly wired so you want the blades facing up from the heat sink, regardless of the way the card mounts. I just modified an R7240 to fit a Dell & had to take the stock fan & plastic housing off to do the same thing. When you're done run the AMD software to check the temp. If you're running up to 80c in full game, you're fine! I get 30c using an old CPU fan. You can use zip ties instead of screws if you can go around the whole card through the fan holes. Whatever mounts the fan, except glue. The fan simply needs to be wired, not to the card per se. The temp is your only concern, looks don't count, fan speed will be 100% when wired to 12v. You can wire it to the 5v to get 50% fan but not recommended. Any other questions, just reply.

Enjoy rich graphics and smooth video performance with this EVGA GeForce GTX 960 02G-P4-2968-KR graphics card, which offers 2GB GDDR5 memory and a clock speed of 1304MHz. DVI-I, HDMI and DisplayPort outputs offer simple connectivity.

What Power supply is required to run this graphic card?

I bought a graphic's card a while back and when i installed it, it fried my computer due to the fact that i didn't have a power supply great enough to support it, So my question is still this, what power supply is need for my computer to support this graphic's card?
400w is minimum. I like to go at least 100w over that. So anything 500w or better will do. Check out these items below.

This 430W power supply supports most Intel® and AMD processors and is compatible with NVIDIA and ATI/AMD graphics cards for wide-ranging compatibility. Built-in fans automatically adjust speed according to temperature for low operating noise.

will this work in a HP p6110f?

i keep looking through threads, trying to make sure this will work. and I have been coming up with nothing. the only reason i want to install this is to also put in a Geforce 550 ti, and i would really like to know before even attempting this. the HP thread says that the card will work and an best buy employee told me the power supply would work, but would they work together in that case?
much appreciated.

Replacement for LiteOn PS-5201-05?

I have an Acer Aspire TC-605 with a LiteOn PS-5201-05 power supply that appears dead following a power surge. I can't find a match for the LiteOn part number, but this appears in stock at the local store. Are they interchangeable?
Yes it will.

Universal Power Supply for HP All in One desktop PC

Which Universal power supply would I use for my computer above? I am not trying to spend a lot of money but I would like a temporary power supply if I suddenly lose power and am on an important call. I would like to be able to finish the call.
You need a battery backup UPS. I use APC, but any brand will work. Get one in the 550-600 VA range. Typically around $50-70.
