Blue Shells and Battle Modes

This is really the definitive version of Mario Kart 8. If you've not checked it out on the Wii U, it's more or less a required buy for the Switch if you have any interest in Mario Kart. If you've played it on the Wii U without the DLC, I think there's enough value here to make it worth the buy.
If you had the DLC, that's when things become more muddled. It's certainly great, and the ability to hold two items adds a new dynamic. There's also the improved battle mode, which is great. But unless you want to take it on the go and play with friends, I'm not convinced it's worth it. It sounds as though the online isn't in the best shape either, if that's a big point for you.
Overall it's a ton of fun though. If you want some good kart racing, it'll be hard to go wrong with Mario and friends.

Style, power, and dark times ahead

Persona 5 is everything I was hoping for and more. I'm incredibly grateful it ended up coming out for PS3, otherwise I would have missed this gem. The PS3 version looks great and runs well. The only issue I ran into was that load times were pretty bad and relatively common. So if you can deal with that, you're good.
Without spoiling anything, I will say I didn't care as much for the plot of characters as I did Persona 4. This game is quite a bit darker than Persona 4. Which is weird to say considering P4 basically started with a corpse. But there was always an air of hope to it to me, even when things got bad. Persona 5 starts off by telling you how screwed you are, and from there things get worse. Even basic things like the velvet room convey an air of hopelessness. It does lighten up, but expect some pretty rough stuff in the first section of the game.
As is with all the Persona games I've played, one of the big draws is your social links. Many of the characters are interesting and well-written. And the payoffs for those you truly come close to is excellent. There were a couple I wasn't a huge fan of, but none of that felt as wasted as, say, the mother or student from Persona 4. There's also the bonus that all social links assist you in some way, not just powering up your fusions.
As for the gameplay, this is easily the best for me. Non-randomized dungeons feels a lot better. They've brought in the negotiations from the SMT series as well, for better or worse. As a note that may help, there is a tutorial on how to better negotiate with demons. The only gameplay complaint I have is that they really spread the damage types too thinly. You have ten different damage types now. But beyond the core four elements, the weaknesses drop off quite a bit.
The biggest thing I love about this game, and indeed this series, is the style it has. It's visually unique. Every screen and menu is oozing with style, standing out compared to most other games. It's really cool in my opinion.
If you're a fan of Persona, SMT, JRPGs in general (there are shades of Pokémon here), or visual novels, I'd recommend checking it out. If you have a PS3, this version is cheaper and only really sacrifices load times as far as I can tell.

My Neighbor Totoro manages to capture a sense of childhood wonder better than any other film I can think of. While the 'story' itself is relatively weak in my opinion, the movie makes up for that by instead capturing a sense of wonder from days gone by.
Overall it's a fun experience. I would warn to not go in expecting the depth of Miyazaki's other works. Instead it's a more laid back and relatable film that should be great with the whole family.

If you're looking for more Fire Emblem fun, this is a good entry in my opinion.
But there is one word of warning I'd like to give. It's difficult, very much so in fact. I played through Birthright with little trouble overall, only failing missions a couple of times. I had trouble with the third mission of this path after the split. It took a lot more effort to actually finish.
So if you want something more challenging, this is the way to go. That said, if you're new to the series and/or want a more relaxed experience, start with Birthright or Awakening.

Do you like turn-based strategy games? Can you deal with RPG elements? If so, I would highly recommend picking this up. There are some issues with the characterizations. But overall I found the experience enjoyable. You're allowed to play how you want, setting the difficulty and deciding if you want perma-death or not. I enjoy the options.
Overall I just found myself enjoying the game. Worth checking out if you're a fan of the series or want a good entry point.

I'm not sure what all I can say about this movie. It has great acting, a fun script, and a tension underlying it that helps keep your attention. If I had to say anything bad about it, I'd mention that it has a pretty long runtime. If you're a fan of the book, I'll mention that this is a pretty close replication of the book. There is at least one key scene that was in the book but not in this release I think should have been. But I expect that are in the extended cut instead.
Overall I was very happy with the movie. Just make sure you set up a block of time to watch it.

There isn't a whole lot I can mention that will sway you to buy this or not if you weren't already. It's a Marvel movie through and through. Fun, with some interesting interactions. But I'll admit I found it a bit lackluster. I had higher expectations after the excellent Winter Soldier. That said, it's certainly worth the watch if you're into the MCU. Otherwise you'll miss progression referenced in the next Avengers movie.

Great Movie With Plenty of Options

One of the early works of Hayao Miyazaki, this is one of my favorites of his works. There's a sense of adventure that Miyazaki is a master at invoking in his films.
The movie itself is great, but what puts this release above and beyond in my opinion is the content beyond just the basic movie. Multiple versions of the English version, as well as new and restored versions of the subtitle translation. It makes it interesting to rewatch the movie. Seeing all of the difference a translation can make was really interesting to me. Throw on top of that original trailers, art, commentary, interviews, translation notes, and you get a lot of value.
Overall I'd recommend it for the movie itself. This release just adds a lot of value above and beyond.
