I bought the newest 2017 model 27" iMac. All the connections on the newest iMac changed. Apple switched the thunderbolt connection to thunderbolt 3 from thunderbolt 2. It's frustrating and caused us to return the newest computer for the older model. The difference between the two models were so minimal and cost was the same so it made the decision easy.
It's fast, upgradable and the Retna display is very good.
