This is the 2nd magic jack I have purchased. No problem in porting my landline phone number to it. The only thing I miss is the caller id name display, still shows the caller id number, but it is worth it not paying over $40.00 a month for a POTS line without even long distance.

I have wireless in my home and am trying to get internet to my directv receiver. Can I use the Ethernet jack on the back to get wireless to my directv receiver?
Yes, that is basically what I bought the adapter for. My internal wifi access on my smart tv went out & when the repair store told me how much it would cost to replace it, so I bought this. I have the Ethernet cable plugged into the adapter & other end plugged into the tv which is only 3 feet away from the electric outlet. This setup is working fine for me and I can use the smart tv apps again.

I don't know which is the better overall product as reviews are mixed for each. Vizio www.vizio.com/e28hc1.html released a new 28" this year but Samsung www.samsung.com/us/video/tvs/UN28H4500AFXZA did not. This TV is a replacement for the TV in the kitchen.
