Better Router = Better Internet

I was stuck with the router TWC gave me, which is wireless N capable and has phone built in. Cable companies always seem to have outdated equipment (internet modems and tv boxes) but they charge a fee to "rent" them. I wouldn't mind the fee if the equipment was at least current. Anyway, enough about cable companies and fees. Decided to upgrade to the modem because I have 300mb internet, but would only get speeds close to that when hardwired to the TWC modem, but was lucky to get 50mb via wifi. I now get 200mb-300mb via wifi with this modem! I'm finally getting what I'm paying for. I called TWC/Spectrum to activate it, and they did easily, but I had to keep the old modem for the phone. Apparently, TWC only charges a rental fee for the modem if you use it for internet. I have it for the phone, and now rental fee. Seems weird since I still have the modem in my house. That brings me to the only issue with this new modem; it doesn't have the phone jack. If it did, I could remain with only one modem.

I love these headphones. I've always wanted a pair, but never pulled the trigger because they're more of a want than a need. When they went on sale, I had to jump on them, and I'm glad I did. They paired to my Samsung smart tv (after several attempts, which I think is more of a samsung issue) and other devices around my house. I can listen to any of my Bluetooth devices so quickly, and not disturb anyone alse. The sound is so rich and detailed. It really makes GoT sound even better. An added bonus is that I can drown out other noises while watching the TV.

This kit comes with the newest Bridge and three of the improved color bulbs. Overall, I like the Hue lights a lot. They work especially well for lamps. I don't care for them as much for switched lights because they do not save the last setting it was on or allow a default color to be set, which is more of an annoyance than a deal breaker. It's pretty annoying to make the light exactly how you like it and the switch gets switched off. When it switches back on, it's back to a default soft white rather than the last color or a preferred color. If that's the color you want on at all times, might as well buy a regular led bulb. Hue could fix this minor annoyance by allowing users to set a default color when switched on. Other than that minor hiccup, I'm very pleased with this set.

Still Needs Work for Smart Home

I bought this because it was on sale, and I wanted to compare it to my echo system. I'm already emersed with Amazon because of my smart home setup. This has, however, been a great addition to the office because it works better than my echos for general info, but I leave the smart home stuff to Alexa.
Pros: sound quality is on par, if not better than echo. This provides better responses to questions and allows for the questions to easily be expanded upon, which echo lacks.
Cons: lights can only be set to one room/zone at a time, which makes customization much less extensive than the echo. I have certain Lights in my home that serve more than one room, which is the case with many open concept homes. Also, echo allows for better grouping of Lights. Both Alexa and HomeKit outshine Google in this area.
All-in-all, Alexa is a better smart home hub, while Google is a better information device. Both do very well with playing music, setting timers and reminders, and answering basic questions.

I really like this thermostat. It does everything a regular thermostat does, but it can also be controlled by a smart phone. This is handy for me because my thermostat is in the upstairs hall. The greatest weakness is in the HomeKit capabilities; it doesn't work when you're away from home without an Apple TV, which is ridiculous. Oh well, maybe they will fix that limitation in the future.
