Great release to match previous Steelbooks

While I firmly believe Blu-ray/DVD reviews should be about the actual product itself rather than the movie, it goes without saying that this is the typical top-notch Disney/Pixar quality, it's just most people have gripes with the story, as the first reviewer. Still, worth a watch, just to see how several of the main characters of Monsters, Inc. came to be friends (or not!).
This also does not have the dreaded stacked discs of several previous releases, and uses a four-disc Viva Elite case.
What's great about it: Includes the 3D, great price with Cars 3D, free Mike plush!
What's not so great: Non-lenticular slipcover, not quite as good as the original
I would recommend this to a friend!

The classic finally arrives in beautiful high-def!

The film and restoration itself it the typical top-notch Disney quality. There are however, several issues with cuts and fades that were mistakenly changed in the 3D release. Disney has started a free disc replacement program for the 2D Blu-ray and regular DVD, with a turnaround of about two weeks. Disappointingly, they apparently will not be fixing the 3D, however. Nevertheless, a must-have for the collection!

What's not so great: The various cuts/edits people have complained about

Say what you want, but this is a solid collection

The films themselves might be hit or miss, but on sale, this is a great price for all the previous movies together along with all of the special features and new bonus features. This includes a previous Target and Best Buy exclusives.
Consider: even at Black Friday prices, the first three movies would run you about $15, plus another $15 each for the last two, which equals what this cost during release week!

What's great about it: Includes all retailer-exclusives from previous releases, two-sided case
What's not so great: The case is DVD-sized case (even for the Blu-ray), doesn't include DVDs
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great release to match previous Steelbooks

The sticker on the front actually states it's a 3-disc edition, but the back correctly states there are four discs (two 3D, two special features). There's no DVD, and regular 2D copy (that's included in the non-Steelbook release). Still, it's a nice exclusive, and anyone who can play the 3D can at least turn off the 3D on their display to view pseudo-2D. Lack of commentary is a big disappointment though, as clearly there would have been enough space to include it on the two BD50 discs for the 3D.
Look for small chips in the paint, as this has a matte finish, which is easier to chip than the glossy finishes on other Steels.

What's great about it: Extended editions fills out the plot overall, though some isn't necessary
What's not so great: Does not include 2D disc (and thus commentary)
