It took me forever to decide to get this Charge HR. Most of the reviews are positive but then they have some that complain about battery, not charging, etc. I've had mine for a couple weeks now and love it. Overall, my battery lasts 4-5 days, although one time it only lasted 2. I love that it shows me my heart rate. Such a good motivator when you see it in fat burning zone. The Bluetooth makes it so easy to sync my data. So far I am in love with this purchase.

Does this device use GPS to determine how far I've traveled, or does it merely count steps and multiply by a constant?
Overall it just counts steps, but if you chose one of the activities associated with GPS, it does use GPS. If you go on Fitbit's website, it tells you which activity selections use GPS. It does take a couple minutes to connect to GPS, but you can either start your workout (except for cycling) and it'll count steps until GPS connects or you can wait to connect then start workout.
