Trusted Capabilities, Useful Portability
on March 20, 2023
Posted by: doop22
The Waterpik Cordless Slide Water Flosser, brings everything you enjoy about water flossers, but in a much more travel friendly build.
Pros: Charges via USB-C meaning it's one less charging cable needing to be packed or found. The performance is excellent, with multiple power settings to really get in there and cleaning your teeth and gums. Multiple tips to provide the specific clean you want. The water feed tube get to the very bottom to ensure all the water is used. Obviously the size of the device is the biggest selling point of this thing and it does make it so much easier to pack in a dopp kit and bring it where needed.
Cons: Event though the main draw is its ability to shrink in size for portability, it does hinder the overall capacity to hold water. I'm able to do one row of teeth (front and behind) before I need to refill and continue. Additionally, the fill port is a little small, so filling/refilling can be a little difficult.
Overall, the Waterpik Cordless Slide Water Flosser is a great device and will definitely be a mainstay in my oral care routine. The main con is so minuscule that is actually doesn't detract from my enjoyment of using the device.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Alienware Taxed AMD Value
on February 11, 2023
Posted by: doop22
Using the Alienware m17 R5 has been enjoyable.
To start, this thing is an absolute unit. It's the largest laptop I've used since the early 2000s but the size is well utilized. The build is solid with the metallic top, the keyboard area does have some flex but nothing that I consider too detrimental. I'm not a fan of the slightly rubberized material on the keyboard surround as it gets oily easily.
For specs, it's clearly mid to upper mid range specs/performance in a high end package. The Ryzen 7 is good and the Radeon 6700M falls between the 3060 and 3070 for performance and for me that's good enough.
As for using it for gaming, I value visuals over pure speed. Running the latest version of Cyberpunk 2077, it was able to do high to ultra settings, no ray tracing and pull a consistent 80-100 FPS. Turning ray tracing on killed the frame dropping it to about 30-40 FPS with high settings. The display is decent, has well enough color profile and reproduction and if I were to calibrate it, I feel it'd look better but kept everything as stock as possible for now. Would have liked to see a 1440p display option.
For my negatives, they're small but would have probably made the experience better.
1. Would have liked an extra USB-C port. It has 1 for DisplayPort, but would have personally swapped one of the 3 USB-A ports for it so I can utilize my Alienware AW720M Mouse and DisplayPort simultaneously . It does have HDMI 2.1 for VRR though.
2. Alienware Command Center is probably the worst system management applications I've used. It's difficult to use and doesn't allow you to tweak the GPU, CPU or fan to your liking, you only have presets and its auto adjustments to the games you play.
3. Price to performance
Overall its a fine gaming laptop, would even say great for what I utilize it for, but it's priced a little too high for the specs you're getting. I won't be switching from my PS5 as my primary gaming option, but if I want to add some variety to my gaming sessions I'll boot it up.

Okay First Attempt, Needs Major Work to Compete
on November 9, 2022
Posted by: doop22
The Google smartwatch everyone has been waiting years for and it doesn't live up to the anticipation.
I'm not the biggest smartwatch fan, I like them as an idea to do specific things. But I was intrigued by the Pixel Watch as I just recently picked up the Pixel 7 Pro and wanted to see if it could replace my Fitbit Charge 5.
The thing I like about the Pixel Watch the most is the look of it. It looks like a nice black pebble and is really light weight so I tend to forget about it being there. The thick bezel is a non issue as I don't feel a smartwatch is meant to as something I'm constantly interacting with. And that's about it as far as what I've liked in the week I've used this watch.
Now on to the things I haven't enjoyed during my time with the Pixel Watch:
* Battery Life is terrible on LTE, it barely makes it through my 0730 - 1630 workday and half of the time dies before then. Solely on Bluetooth, it'll last through the day and an 1.5 hr workout...barely.
* Pulls Heartrate data every second...it doesn't need to do that and haven't found a way in the settings of the watch or Fitbit's app to stop it.
* The watchband is the same as those on the Fitbit watches and I absolutely hate them as the rubber tends to cause a rash on the inner side of my wrist area, and unfortunately 3rd party band market is pretty non-existent for this watch at the moment.
* Fitbit integration at this stage feels more like a substituted side dish vs an actual part of the experience. Just rebrand Fitbit and Google Fit into Google Fitbit or Fitbit by Google and close the loop.
Overall, it is a good first attempt by Google from the hardware side, but the software leaves much to the daily experience left out. I'll be going back to my Charge 5 until I feel Google has put some work into the product via software updates to make using it as a daily carry more viable.

Great 3n1 Charger, Expensive Competition
on October 9, 2022
Posted by: doop22
The Insignia 3 n 1 Wireless Charger is a really good device.
Immediate impression was this is a really well built and solid wireless charger. The base is a well weighted metal/plastic construction. The bottom has rubber to prevent sliding around. The pad for the AirPods is rubber too so your case doesn't slide around. The arms/holders for your iPhone and Apple watch seem to be constructed out a polished metal, but wouldn't me surprised if was just a really good plastic given the appearance of metal. The mount for your iPhone has a rubberized cover to protect your device if you use your iPhone without a case.
For the actual use of the wireless charger, it'll charge your iPhone at 15W, your AirPods and Apple Watch at 5W each respectively. The Apple Watch and AirPods chargers fulfill their intended purpose. The Airpods charger will charge through a protective case if you use one for your Airpods like I do. The iPhone charger can rotate up and down giving you adjustable viewing angles. The biggest feature of the whole charger is the inclusion of Turbo+ Cooling. There is a button on the base under where the Apple Watch rests to turn it on and off. It's literally just a fan built into the iPhone charger to keep your iPhone somewhat cool during charging. Positive is you can't hear while it's enabled and you can feel the fan if you place your hand over the mount.
The only negatives I have of this device is that it uses an old AC plug and the brick is pretty large, where USB-C would have been so much better. And the price of this one is pretty up there with more well recognized brands and would make it a hard sell with the general consumer.

The Hype is Real!
on October 3, 2022
Posted by: doop22
I've been a long time admirer of the MX Master Series of mice for a while now, but was put off by the price as if I'm dropping around $100 on a mouse I want it to be gaming focused. But as I said, I was super excited to get the MX Master 3S in for review as
From the first touch of this mouse felt like heaven. Has a nice weight to it and sturdy feel while remaining comfortable to use. Clicking the buttons was nice and tactile and the scroll wheels are addictive to just spin through. The silent clicks of the left and right buttons make minimal noise as that is what the "S" in 3S stands for. So it'd do great in a office environment.
Set up was super simple with my M1 Mac Mini. The software to modify and adjust the functions of the device was very intuitive and offers a wide range to make it feel like mine. There's even specific functions dependent on the web browser you utilize to make quick actions or macros. I unfortunately don't have a real use for the side scroll button, but I do use as sort of stress release as it gives my thumb something to do.
Overall I am in love with the Logitech MX Master 3S mouse with my current Apple Setup. The device switching function will come in handy when I decide to grab a MacBook at later date.

So Good!
on August 16, 2022
Posted by: doop22
This has effectively replaced three appliances in my kitchen!
Setup is pretty straight forward and it comes with everything you need to make your meals.
Use is easy as well much like all Ninja products. Has functions such as Grill, Air Crisp, Dehydrate, Bake, Roast and Broil. I mostly used the Grill function as that is the main reason I requested it. The Grill is best used when utilizing the thermostat as it provides specified settings for the different meats you'd cook and desired doness. Obviously, there's more universal settings to use, but what's the point in that.
Additionally, I utilized the Air Crisp function to make some meals to see if it could replace an actual air fryer. In my use, it'll pass but doesn't really get things as crisp as I wish, but your mileage may vary.
Overall, the Ninja Foodi XL Indoor Grill is a great appliance to have. It doesn't take up too much space on a counter and allows me to consolidate 3 other appliances into 1. Simple operation, high quality. I have nothing to be upset about with this to be honest.

Finally USB-C in a Mouse!
on July 16, 2022
Posted by: doop22
This Alienware gaming mouse is everything I have been waiting for! It's comfortable, fast and includes USB-C.
It has everything you expect from a top tier gaming mouse in this day and age. The 26,000 DPI is more than enough for really competitive gaming. Only downside is that the DPI toggle is on the bottom of the mouse, which could hinder you if you need to make changes on the fly.
It has an ambidextrous design which is great for me as I am a natural lefty and allows me to operate in a style that fits me best.
My favorite feature/inclusion on this mouse is the USB-C connectivity. As gaming laptops, get thinner and start losing USB-A ports, I feel like it's about time for the peripheral industry starts catching up. Yeah there's Bluetooth, but I'd rather have the ability to wire in with a cable or with the dongle to prevent disconnects. It comes with a USB-C wireless receiver dongle, USB-C charge cable and the Snap Charging dongle.
I don't see/understand the actual usefulness of the magnetic Snap dongle as you can just charge the device with a USB-C cable and not need the awkward attachment sticking out the front of the mouse.
Overall, I feel this is worth every cent spent for the simple fact of the inclusion of USB-C, meaning I don't need to carrying around a third cable to solely charge my mouse.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Doesn't need WiFi to be useful
on June 22, 2022
Posted by: doop22
I have been exclusively using the Cafe Couture Toaster oven. It has temporarily replaced my oven and a couple air fryers.
Pros: It is pretty simple to use once you peruse the instructions for a bit. looks really nice and comes with a good array of accessories. It is a good size to fit a good sized chicken to roast but doesn't take over the whole counter.
Cons: It has a crumb catching tray that slides out at the bottom, but doesn't have a drip tray over the bottom heating rod so those can get dirty and they have this non removable wire protector that makes it annoying to clean. So now I just use the baking tray as a catch all when I'm using the Air Fry Basket accessory to limit this issue. Also I don't see a benefit of the SmartHQ app for this device. It requests way too much info to basically do the same things I can do straight at the device itself. From what I've gathered is that you can set presets for the cooking modes if you cook the same things consistently. Unless there is something I didn't see in the app, it doesn't even start on its own, you still need to hit the "Start" button.
Overall its a great appliance, but it doesn't need to be a connected device to take full advantage of it.

It's good but there are better options out there
on May 24, 2022
Posted by: doop22
I received the LG CordZero Stick Vacuum with high expectations, and after using it for about a week, I was meh about it.
It comes loaded to the 9s with attachments and spare parts, like washable and reusable filters, a spare battery. What I was not expecting was a mop attachment to clean up small spills.
Set up was simple, just find the parts and build the vacuum like a very expensive Lego set. The canister stand is pretty straight forward, just plug it in to the outlet. It does open up like an armoire revealing compartments for the attachments, you're most likely to use often. The top of the stand flips up, revealing a spot to charge the spare battery. Even the waste bin and filter were already installed and ready to go. With the auto empty feature or it being turned on at all, does lock the vacuum in to the dock so it can't be removed while emptying. It even plays a little song while doing so.
There is an app that I was told to use while reviewing the CordZero, but it was absolutely useless as it doesn't do much for the function of the vacuum. The most I believe you would use it for would be to reorder replacement filters or something. I wasn't able to register it for warranty as I didn't actually purchase this unit, so there's that unless I didn't something wrong on my end.
In use it's an extremely capable vacuum, it cleans really deep in turbo mode, pretty lightweight and emptying it is super convenient with the Auto Empty feature but can be emptied as any other $90 canister stick vacuum would be able to by just dumping the canister into the trash.

The BEST PC I have EVER Owned due to the RTX 3080!
on May 16, 2022
Posted by: doop22
from Lynn Haven, FL
Super stoked to receive the ASUS ROG GT15CF-I7 Gaming Desktop via the Tech Insider Program! Being able to experience the RTX 3080 is something to behold!
I'll preface this by saying, I am not an FPS type of gamer, I enjoy games where I can escape into a story or beautiful scenery! I also don't do benchmarking as what I look for in a PC is everyday experience.
For me the things that stuck out to me were as follows:
Size - I expected this hulking oversized piece of machinery, but was pleasantly surprised by how compact it is. I have it sitting on my 47" wide desk with my 27" HP Omen 2K monitor (with stock stand) and a 20" Bose Soundbar and I have plenty of space! Also the space inside of the case is well utilized and give room for upgrades in the future.
Ports - This thing has an (to me) insane amount of ports, as some one who mostly games via console or gaming laptops, this is liberating! I don't feel the need to have to pick or choose what I want hooked up.
Capability - The RTX 3080 is a beast to me, everything I threw at it, it breezed through. CyberPunk 2077 on High everything, pulled a consistent 80 FPS over hours of gameplay. Forza Horizon 5 and Dirt 5 looked beautiful and GTA V with a few visual enhancement mods performed well above my expectations.
Downsides - The only things I can say are drawbacks to this system would be the RAM and Storage. I feel if you don't want to hamstring the 3080, 32GB of RAM is a must (there does seem to be 4 RAM slots so I'm assuming you can go to 64GB if wanted) and the 512GB SSD is disappointing as games are getting larger and the SSD will fill up quick. Yeah there is a 2TB 3.5" SATA HDD, but load times will be slower.
Things of note - It does come with a Wi-Fi 6 fin if your router and ISP support it, and a wired keyboard/mouse combo, but I wouldn't advise using them. It doesn't come with too much bloat, does have ASUS Armoury Crate software to get updates and manage different aspects of the components. My favorite part is being able to turn off all the RGBs!
Overall, this ASUS ROG GT15CF has been a dream to use, and once I upgrade the RAM, SSD and dump the SATA, it'll be a machine I can see it lasting me for a good few years.
I would recommend this to a friend!
