Awesome brightness, color and clarity!
on July 5, 2023

The first thing to know about the Epson Pro EX11000 projector is that this is a business projector - and it's great at providing crisp and bright images from any office product or media stream for that matter. I say it's a Business projector - as it doesn't have the consumer grade home screen that displays are your media streams, advertisements and trailers. This no-nonsense unit meant to get in you presentation material quickly and get down to business.
For my testing, I put it initially in a room with large windows and a temporary screen on the wall. I had another Epson projector in the room to compare to - and although it's a little hard to tell, the Laser Projector images definitely look brighter and more detailed.
Setup was relatively simple, but there are so many options it took a while for me to find exactly the settings I was looking for - you just need to be patient. It joined easily to the WiFi network and I tried a variety of streaming methods including HDMI, Device Mirroring, and a Microsoft Wireless Projection dongle to see how it would work and it worked great!
Epson included a 16 W speaker and it's quite a bit louder than I expected. Easy to control from the remote, you shouldn't miss any parts of the conversation when using it for video conferencing. If you plan to show a movie or TV stream though - I'd opt for using an external speaker for a more full range of sound.
Overall - I really like the projector and the brightness, color and clarity of the images it provides. I gave it only 4 stars as I feel Epson should have included Apple Airplay and Bluetooth in it for better connectivity and support.

Fast charging and Surge Protection in one device!
on June 24, 2023
Posted by: TechMatcher
Have you ever had issues with your power adapters not fitting into even a two socket outlet? The Revolve45 Surge Protectors takes care of that problem by allowing 360 degree rotation of each outloet socket AND protects your devices at the same time with a 1080 joule surge protector and $100,000 connected equipment warranty!
360 Electrical has also incorporated Gallium Nitride - a material that efficiently reduces heat dissipation during charging, Charge Sense - a technology that intelligently distributes power between ports when charging more than one device, and a Power Delivery feature that is in constant communication with your device to ensure a safe charge.
The "45" means it is capable of delivering 45-Watts of power to your devices to charge them as quickly and safely as possible. Due to this rapid charging capability, this device has quickly become the source of "power fights" in our family as everyone was to use the "fast charger".
Overall - I highly recommend the use of a surge protector like this and to combine it with rotating outlets and fast charging is AWESOME.
I gave this a 4-star rating as it is only meant to plug into standard (non-GFI) wall outlets.

Awesome screen and graphics, light and capable!

I've had the pleasure of using many, many laptops do to my work in IT. When given the chance to review the new HP Dragonfly Pro, I jumped at it.
This machine is packed with features. I tested the Dragonfly Pro with Windows 11 Home, a 14" touch screen, AMD Ryzen 7 processor, 16GB RAM, a 512GB SSD drive and a super nice and crisp screen. I've got to say upon turning it on - the screen REALLY stood out for me.
there are more features, like 4 "special keys" in which 3 are preset and 1 is customizable to open an Application, Website, File, Folder, etc. Neat feature but if you have one programmable key - why not 3 or 4? The other 3 keys open things like myHP access, Live Support and the HP Smart Cam.
Benchmark testing using the Passmark Performance Test tool showed GREAT scores on the CPU and Disk, while slightly sub-average scores for 2D/3D graphics and the RAM (see attached picture). Putting in a few better components would really speed this machine up - but honestly it is quite capable of your everyday surfing and streaming tasks. In additional, HP boasts the battery life of all their 14" consumer laptops - partly due to NOT having a power-hogging, dedicated GPU - so this was a conscious decision by HP.
HP did it right on several fronts with this machine: PCIe SSD storage is SUPER FAST, audio Bang & Olufsen with quad speakers (music and movies sounds great), integrated fingerprint reader, a clear 5MP integrated webcam with electronic shutter and wide-range microphone, all kinds of sensors (accelerometer, color temperature light sensor, gyroscope, IR thermal sensor - WOW!
Overall - I really like this laptop and would have given it 5 stars if the graphics and RAM scored better - but again HP made this laptop more power friendly by installing power efficient components - that just means they are quite as performant as other more power-hungry components.

Awesome Sound, Super Portable & all around great!

I have to say that EVERY Bose product I have owned is nothing short of phenomenal - and the Bose S1 Pro+ Wireless PA system is no exception. Thing thing ROCKS. It's Loud and Clear. It's Portable and Sexy (can I say that)? It has a plethora of settings for wired instruments and microphones and Bluetooth connectivity to play from your compatible devices. Oh - and for your instruments and microphones, it also has BUILT-IN wireless RF receivers too!
The unit boasts a rechargeable battery with up to 11 hours of playtime and a USB power to power your phone or tablet if needed as well. It can connect to other Bose S1 Pro speakers to truly elevate your sound (I was unable to test this - but it's a major feature).
They suggest downloading and use the Bose Music App for audio control, accessing your favorite streaming services and taking total control of your music.
Overall - I love it. My family loves it - in fact they fight over it. We'll use this on the boat, at the bonfire, in the garage and basically everywhere. My daughter is a dancer - and loves to use this to play her dance music to practice with. Sure, it's a bit more expensive than a simple bluetooth speaker - but you get what you pay for and this Bose products delivers in abundance!

Quality case - solid feel
on March 18, 2023
Posted by: TechMatcher
I'm a bit picky on my cases for my phones. I tend to like a silicone case for the "grippiness" and feel, and this Insignia case is a great price. This case is engineered with a magnetic ring, built right into the case - so for those of you invested in the MagSafe chargers or accessories - this will work well for you.
I have wireless pad type chargers all over my house, and this case has not had any issue with them at all - and also fits into my Ultraviolet Phone cleaner! I have another case for my iPhone 14 Pro that doesn't fit will into that cleaner - so this Insignia case just became my go-to case!
The Raised edges on the back are big enough to protect my 3 cameras when I set it on my desk or counter, and the front has a slightly raised edge as well. There's a Microfiber liner and protects the back of the phone from the case itself - ultimately keeping your phone in pristine condition. I like the soft green color - making my phone easy to identify compared to my family array of blue and black phones and cases.
Overall - a great value and product!

Fast and Efficient trimmer
on February 13, 2023
Posted by: TechMatcher
I recently received the WeedWhacker 2.0 Nose & Ear Hair Trimmer to add to my plethora of grooming tools. Neatly packaged with a 5V charger block and a USB-A to USB-C charging cable, this "dollar-sized" trimmer is perfect for controlling those ear and nose hairs that happen more often than we like to think.
The first step after unboxing it to charge this device for up to a full 8 hours to set the battery charge correctly the first time. It's an important step so make sure you do it before use.
After charging, I set to work trimming my nose and ears. I had no pinching or pulling of hair - which is always the worry - and within a few minutes was all cleaned up and ready to go. You can use it wet or dry and rinse it off under the faucet. The cutting head is replaceable too if needed.
The rechargeable battery holds about 45 minutes of run time. If you need that long to clean yourself up, we should probably be having another discussion.
Overall - I'm pleased with the size and performance of this personal grooming device - and intend to use it for years to come!

Nifty Home Printer with cool features!
on January 23, 2023
Posted by: TechMatcher
The HP Smart Tank 5101 AIO printer is a capable device for home and perhaps small office printing. I say "perhaps", as this small form factor printer lacks office features like Automatic Duplex Printing, a Document feeder and a paper tray. For home use - it has worked flawlessly through my many computers, iPhones, tablets and Chromebooks. Print quality is quite impressive for such a small unit, and setup was easy.
Unboxing, there's the printer, power cord, 4 bottles of ink and 2 print heads. See Picture. Filling the printer tanks was easy and completely mess free. Not a drop spilled or leaked. I had minor trouble with installing the print heads - likely because I was distracted on a phone call - but once I focused just a little, they went in without issue.
The first thing the printer did was print out an alignment page. Not one for following directions, I didn't realize the printer NEEDED to scan this alignment page before moving on. That confused me a bit and made me open the direction book - and once that was done it was ready to go.
I joined the device to my WiFi using the HP Smart app - an intuitive app that gives you good control over the printer and settings. Airprint worked great and was also easy to use.
There is no paper tray on bottom like I'm used to - it's got a small area on the back that you stand up the paper (100 sheets max). The output tray can handle about 30 sheets before stuff starts falling on the ground - so be careful if you're printing something a bit long. Print speed is decent, not going to complain for such a small printer.
Scanning from the flatbed works well and can create a variety of format types. The copy function works well to, but for me I need the duplex feature AND a document feeder, so this won't be my main office machine.
Overall - very capable, nice print quality, no-mess or fuss ink loading and compact form factor make this a nice addition to the home office!

Entry level hearing aid for minor hearing loss
on December 23, 2022
Posted by: TechMatcher
To start, I wanted to try the Lexie B2 OTC hearing aids as I have some hearing loss from being a drummer and DJ in my earlier years. I'm constantly asking people to repeat themselves and have quite a bit of difficulty hearing conversation in noisy environments like bars and restaurants. So - yes I was excited to try them out.
Right to the point - the Lexia B2 seem to be just an amplifier for your ear. It amplifies everything - perhaps too much. As I'm typing this, I'm wearing the devices with my World Volume set to 18 of 100 set to an Everyday Listening environment, and the clicking of my keyboard is quite loud. Rustling of papers or a paper chip bag is nearly unbearable.
On the PLUS side, I wore the devices for nearly a whole day before I told my family members I was wearing them. Either they don't look at me very closely, or they are hidden very well. I prefer to think the latter is the true. Battery life is also good - I can easily wear them a whole day 8+ hours without draining them completely. In addition, they are very light and comfortable - so much so that I almost forget that I'm wearing them. The Lexie app is also quite functional when it works.
On the CONS side, I was quite disappointed that the Lexia B2's don't function as bluetooth streaming devices for audio or phone calls. I would have thought that would be a very common feature to build in - maybe the B3's will have them. Also, the Lexie B2's did come with a new case for charging them in, but it's just a case - they didn't build in a battery for charging them. Most earbuds and devices come with a rechargable case vs just a carrying case. My last con is about connecting to the Lexie app. I'd say my devices connect about 50% of the time. I power them on and place them on/in my ears, then launch the Lexie app. My phone is within 2 feet of the devices, but it cannot connect. I either have to try to restart the devices or place them back in the case - then try again.
Overall, the Lexie B2 OTC Hearing Aids Powered by Bose work well as a sound amplifier, but I personally expected something with the Bose name to be much more function, refined and feature rich.

Great addition to my rental property
on December 21, 2022
Posted by: TechMatcher
I've recently replaced my outdoor light with the Wyze Wired Outdoor WiFi Floodlight at one of my rental properties. I needed to upgrade the outside light anyways, so I thought why not at in a camera at the same time to monitor who comes and goes from the property!
Installation was fairly easy and straight forward. I was worried the plastic components/housing wouldn't be study enough, but it is still having there after a few months and working as expected. The little hook included actually helps with install if you're doing it yourself. I ignored it at first - but ended up using it - so save yourself the learning step.
The camera appears to be just the Wyze v3 camera - which does give a nice image in both daylight and darkness. I'm happy with the image aside from the fact that I'd like to have a wider angle view. As seen in the photos, it's a fairly focused view and I'd like to be able to see more in the viewfinder.
In order to keep the images or videos, you must sign up for a subscription. It's relatively cheap and easy to do - so really not that big of deal but some people may not like the fact that you have to sign up for something.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the upgrade to the Wyze Floodlight Camera. I can now more eaily check to see if my tenants shoveled the front steps and sidewalk, and can look back and see who is coming in and out of the building and when.

We spend 90% of our time indoors where the air is often 2 to 5 times worse than the air outside. Continuous monitoring of indoor air quality is key for minimizing negative health effects, preventing illness and increasing productivity, energy and good health. Airthings, air quality specialists and experts in radon, created the Airthings Wave Plus as the first smart air quality monitor with radon detection. Wave Plus has since won multiple awards for consumer electronics and innovation and was among the 2019 TIME Magazine inventions of the year. It is the perfect solution for homeowners to gain full visibility into six indoor air factors; radon, carbon dioxide (CO2), airborne chemicals (TVOCs), humidity, temperature and air pressure. Airthings Wave Plus includes a free app to connect to your smartphone (iOS/Android) via Bluetooth and an online dashboard with advanced analytics. Battery operated allowing you to install anywhere, with 16 months battery life. Please allow for a 7-Day settling period for the sensors to adjust to their new environment. By monitoring daily and continuously, you can avoid radon side effects, get the best indoor humidity level, low voc levels and low carbon dioxide levels. Made to the best indoor air quality standards, Airthings Wave Plus is essential in every home.

Interesting (and scary) results
on November 6, 2022
Posted by: TechMatcher
I've recently acquired an AirThings Wave Plus monitor for my home. This sophisticated device monitors indoor air quality with 6 sensors: Carbon Dioxide, humidity, temperature, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and pressure. I like to think I have good quality air in my home (built in 2008), but according to the device, it is quite poor!
My house is a standard Minnesota 2 story home built in 2008. I have a radon mitigation system with a continuously running fan drawing air from under the home slab and expelling it out the roof. I also have an Air Exchanger running on the return side of my gas furnace. Currently set to exchange 60% of of inside air (transferring heat from the exiting inside air to the incoming fresh air) and then it passes through the furnace for additional heating/cooling and distributes it throughout my house.
So, I was quite surprised to see my elevated radon reading as well as high CO2 levels. Granted that I'm only 7 days into using the device and it needs time - even over a month to calibrate - I'm still a bit concerned to see these readings.
Temperature, pressure and humidity reading seem about right - so I can't say that the device in malfunctioning. To that end, I have access to a digital radon meter that I plan to use to compare readings.
Currently, I have the device placed horizontal in my office since that is where I spend most of the day. in a few weeks, I'll move it to a bedroom and compare results there too. After that is the basement.
Overall - this was an easy setup, app download and place the device - so anyone can do it. If you're concerned about your air quality in your home - this is a convenient way to capture some data and take action if needed. See attached pictures of the app and my somewhat scary readings.
Giving 5 stars for now for the ease of use and access to data.
I'll edit this review if I find the radon numbers to be inaccurate.

Garmin Speak™ Plus with Amazon Alexa is what you love about Amazon Alexa, now in your vehicle. Use voice control for hands-free access to music, news, navigation and more. Plus, a built-in dash cam gives you forward collision and lane departure warnings.

Can the lane departure tones be turned off? It's really really annoying! Goes off every time you come up on a car at a stop light. It's not realistic to stay 5 car lengths away from the car in front of you at a light...lots birds would be flipped at You!

Aside from muting the device itself, you can turn off selective features: https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/speakplus/EN-US/GUID-EFD3414D-5D4A-4BB7-9496-ECAD2C4D994E.html

I don't see anything about just turning off the tone for that specific feature.

Make your home an internet haven with this versatile Linksys Velop wireless Wi-Fi system. Three identical tri-band dual-stream AC2200 routers, each equipped with a quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 processor, deliver lightning-fast internet. Equipped with Bluetooth 4.0/LE, this Linksys Velop wireless Wi-Fi system is simple to set up and pairs easily with computers, tablets and smart devices.

Will this system work in a metal building with walls, I have AT&T and currently use an M-Cell booster from them but it does not extend my service throughout the entire building.

Unfortunately, you never know for sure until you've tried it - as all structures and materials are a bit different. However, using a three node system like this starts you off with better odds that a single router! Give it a try and see how it works!

I currently have the latest AT&T Pace modem / router. Can the AT&T modem be placed into a bridge mode enabling just the modem function? From research, this is a very complicated procedure. I would prefer to return the rental AT&T unit.

I would agree with your second statement - and would always recommend that people purchase their own dedicated modem (cable or DSL) and then use a separate dedicated router configuration. You have more control that way - can keep your devices firmware updated regularily, and usually have better equipment!

The advertising states that Velop works with Alexa but I can find no information on how to set this up. Help?

Here's the link to enable the Linksys skills for Alexa. They're not in the Alexa app yet.
