Klipsch KB15 - I want to listen to music again

I have compared these speakers at home against the Polk T15, Pioneer bs22, and my old NHT Super Zeros and at the store against the T15, BS22, TSX110, and Bose ( forget the name they were priced at about $250) My setup at home consists of a Yamaha 373 receiver and a 12" Dayton sub. I tested all speakers as front mains crossed over between 120 and 80 Hz; . I did not test the speakers sending them full frequency(s).
My home "testing" revealed some surprises. The NHTs, which I thought , and was told, were so good were...meh. The Polk T15s were just plain dull, and the BS22 sounded great for some music, but was found wanting in others.. In the store, which is less than ideal, I rated them best to worst: KB15, TSZ110/BS22 (tied but based on song) , Bose, T15. This is subjective testing and based on what 55 year old ears can hear. I probably have some high end loss due to loud music listening in my youth. Long live the 70's!
Klipsch sound.: I can only describe it as clear, detailed and great imaging ........ on well recorded songs. You will quickly discover which of your digital recordings suck. When you find a "good" one, the Klipschs will bring out sounds you never knew were there. Snare drums, high hats, kick drums, guitars, both electric and acoustic, piano/keyboards could easily be distinguished in the busiest of songs, Acoustic melodies and vocals were sometimes an emotional experience...depending on the song of course :-). The high-end harshness some people say are an occasional negative of the Klipsch speakers in general didn't present itself in the least in my experience.
My budget for speakers was $100 and I exceeded that with these speakers. I initially bought (and returned) the Polk T15s when they went on sale for $50. I got the KB15s for $130 which I think is a fantastic value. Their $249 retail is a little much. These speakers are made for BB by Klipsch and are the BB version of the Klipsch B20s which are rated very highly by the "experts". I would be curious how the 2 compare. The tweeters are the same, but the woofers are different and the crossover point is different.
The T15 are those bookshelf speakers whose high versatility is built to impress. Engineered with Polk's proprietary Dynamic Balance technology, they're primed to improve your home theater experience and take on your entire arsenal of tunes without fail. Think brighter highs, a wide-open mid-range and surprising bass response - the perfect entry into high-performance audio. What’s more, it’s easy to setup, supports Dolby and DTS, and connects to most home theater receivers, stereos or home theater processors. The best part is that it won't drain your wallet! Go big on great sound made for everyone. Add the T15 bookshelf stereo speakers to your home audio setup today.

Took a chance at $50, but still returned them

I compared these at the store against the Klipsh kb15, Bose 302, Polk tx110 and Pioneer bs22. These were by far the dullest sounding of the lot, but I know the BB testing arena can be challenging to give a fair test, so for $50 I said what the heck. Home they came.
Out of the box, they sounded a little better in my setup, but still disappointing. I let them play for 2 days ( ~20 hours) at a fairly decent volume. They still sounded veiled and muted, like something was muffling the sound. And this was compared to my old cheapie Sony speakers. Weird. I would like to say they might be good as rear/surround speakers (especially for $50) , but there is no highs to speak of.
A day or two later the Klipsch kb15 went on sale for $130. I bought those and A/B ed the Polk and Klipsches right up to the 15 day return date on the Polks. No contest. I returned the Polks and kept the KB15s with the only regret being spending over my $100 limit. . The Klipsch sound? No harsh highs ( as sometimes is reported) and the detail and clarity is exceptional. i found bBoth speakers need a sub to be used as a L/R main speaker.
Maybe not a fair comparison as the Polks retail for $99 and the Klipschs retail for $249....(which is overpriced in my book). I would have loved to compare the TSX110 and the klipsch kb15 at home, but I didn't want to play the buy/play/return game anymore. I liked the KB15s over the TSX110 at the store, and I'd imagine that would continue in my home setup as well.
If I didn't expect more from Polk, i would have given these speakers 3 stars
What's great about it: price, name, box construction

I bought this for a secondary system, and I am very pleased with the sound I am getting for $40. I even tried this on my "good" system, and it compared very favorably to a speaker that cost 4X as much (ouch). Heavy magnets. Perfect center speaker for space limited installations. Sounded excellent with both movies and music. Doesn't have that "honky" sound of other value-oriented center speakers
This modem and router combo features a full-rate ADSL 2/2+ modem, a 4-port Ethernet switch and a dual-antenna wireless-N router in one unit for a wide range of high-speed connection options.
I bought this for my parents back in May of 2010 and set up their first Internet connection/laptop PC. They are very tech unsavvy and chose to remain so. My mother uses this every day, the modem is never shut off, and the modem has needed to be reset only one time...due to a lightning strike. The other day, she called up and asked if they still needed that box with the green lights that's sitting on the bedroom dresser! (location of phone jack) Talk about setup and forget! They use AT&T DSL as do I. My DSL modem finally gave up the ghost, and I know which modem/wireless router I'm buying!
What's great about it: set up and forget doesn't need to be reset
What's not so great: Setup was a little tricky ( from what I remember)

I would like to comment on the bass of the speakers for those who might be interested. I did not play these speakers at full frequencies, but rather used them in a 2.1 setup with a Dayton 12" sub. Even though the speakers claim to get down to 63Hz, I crossed them at 80Hz., and I found the bass to be clean and tight without any boominess. These are not "bass-head" speakers, but excel in the mid and high ranges, with (probably) a bias on the high end. I have found pointing these speakers at the walls (outward bias) I can get sound coming from all over. Cool, but maybe distracting to some. .
