What is the difference between duo processing and i3-i4 or i5 processing
I know it has to do with spead but some computers have intel others duo and then the i3 et al so I am confused as to which is the fastest in processing. I would need a laptop for crafting and photos.
Good question! Laptops, unlike large desktops, are typically purchased for specific jobs. For you to pick the best laptop, you will need to look at the software that you use for crafting and photos. Standard graphics cards (= less expensive) are fine for static photos, but poor at moving images. High-end graphics cards take the work of moving images from movies and games off the computer, but they are expensive. Some games and software will not use the advanced features of expensive graphics cards. Thus, it matters to know your software to get the most value from your laptop purchase. In general, always purchase the most memory (RAM) you can afford. RAM is like blood - you can get by with less, but it feels terrible. The amount of RAM effects your processor selection: More expensive processors are not just speedy, but able to use more RAM. For up to 4GB RAM, a duoCore is fine, but to "read" over 4GB, you will need an i5 or i7 processor. (DuoCore is generally more versatile for typical needs than i3... i3 was introduced to allow "future" i5 and i7 models to fit in the same slots as users planned their upgrades). Remember, laptops, in general, cannot be upgraded - your purchase may become obsolete over 3 to 5 years. If you expect to keep up with advances in your particular software programs, you will need to either buy a new laptop or change to a desktop - which uses 'parts' not unlike component stereos systems - to allow you to keep up with the Joneses! Whichever path you choose, take the time to read the user reviews here and at sites like 'tomshardware' and 'CNET'.
