Yes guitarist Steve Howe's latest entry in his collection of early demos is a mixed bag of solo material and Yes songs. Most interesting are his versions of the songs from the last Yes release Heaven and Earth. After listening to these demos, it gave me a new appreciation for that album. Also interesting is the outtake from Drama, Go Through This, which was performed live in 1980 but never released. This version is certainly in the New Wave style of the times. The rest of the album is what you would expect, lots of guitar flourishes both acoustic and electric although somewhat marred by the incessant drum machine.
Jon Anderson and Jean Luc Ponty together sounds like an incredible idea, but unfortunately rather than create new music they simply regurgitated content from the past. It's not Yes, it's not Mahavishnu Orchestra, but if you are fans of both those bands, you will at least enjoy this set. Video quality is ok, the music was doctored from the original live recordings. A lot of promise, but project now seems to be abandoned in favor of Anderson Rabin Wakeman project.
