While I've always been a Sony fan, I never liked their multi-channel receivers until recently. This unit sounds very good, better then a Yamaha AS-501 integrated amp which it replaced.
It has most of the features I want in a receiver. The user interface is well laid out and fairly easy to navigate once you figure out where everything is. I especially like how the front panel display can be completely turned off. My only complaint is there is not a button on the remote that can turn off the display, you have to do it on the unit itself but once you have your custom presets set it does it by memory.
Sadly, the owners manuals they include with these things these days does not tell you everything you need to know about this units features and how to operate it so you will have to go on Sony's website to learn more. a
The STR-DN1070 does not have the new Dolby Atmos, which is why I got it at such a good price so if you need that you will have to get the new STR-DN1080, otherwise both units appear to be identical in every way.

There isn't much choices in an external Blu-Ray drive for a CPU. The LG was the only one Best Buy had. This unit is probably as good as any out there. It's a sorry state of affairs that these things don't come standard on all CPU's and laptops. How long has Blu-Ray been around? Going on 12 years now?
