I have two Sony DSC HX-400V cameras. One in Europe, the other one here in the States. I have never needed the extra battery, but always like a backup. I tried to find this battery in Romania, went to many photo stores and was unable to find it. I say, if you want one buy it in advance of traveling to different places.

This camera is capable of pulling long distance photos up close. Other reviews have said it is not a night camera - they are incorrect. It takes great low level shot. After it takes a low light shot, you can watch it adjust the shot to a clearer photo. It is not a pocket camera, but with hand strap it is easily carried without fear of dropping it. It has the best lens stabilizer I've seen, but the longer the shot, the greater care you have to use to get a clearer shot. I haven't tried a 256 GB SD card, but it easily addresses a 128 GB card. There is not normally a big delay between the press of the shutter button and the camera being ready for the next shot. Best yet it has a Carl Zeiss lens. It is not an all weather camera - take care in inclement weather and in dusty environments. Love this camera.

Certainly. I normally use both on my camera - at least the filter.
