Ladies and Gentlemen, This is a must own.

Ladies and Gentlemen, whether you love him or hate him you have to respect him. This DVD (blu-ray), starts out by taking you back to the young Paul Heyman before he was Paul E. It really gives you a clear picture of his origins, his teachings, why he is the way he is, his early days in AWA/WCW, his time in ECW, his arrival in WWE, booking for Smackdown and of course his evolution into "The one behind the one in 21-1." Of course during all of this you get to hear from people that were along the ride for his amazing journey. I really enjoyed hearing the honest opinions from everyone from Tommy Dreamer to Jim Ross, it's a different and great perspective on all that is Paul Heyman.
That being said, I must admit I was a huge original ECW fan. I mostly purchased this to hear some behind the scenes talk and stories that have never been heard before. Without going into spoilers, I got just this. To my surprise they really didn't edit him. Those stories were discussed but I actually enjoyed hearing more about what makes him tick. I don't consider him just a professional wrestling talent but a master marketer. This DVD confirms that, as you also get to see the side projects that he has worked on and just how creative he truly is. He might be a liar, a hustler and quite frankly not a very ethical human being but he is a once in a lifetime talent.
I do have a couple of issues with this documentary in all fairness. The first is that Vince McMahon was not interviewed. This was quite disappointing as it would have been nice to have heard the other side of the story. Without going into spoilers there were times that his version of some stories Paul told would have been very insightful. The second issue I have is with Stephanie McMahon. It is quite obvious she is not very fond of Paul but she has no choice but to respect his talent. There are a few quotes from her that just make me shake my head. She just doesn't get Paul and that he is a genius.
Bottom line if you are looking for a great behind the scenes life story of a true evil genius in the wrestling industry; this DVD a must buy. This doesn't even include all of the extras which are interview gold. If i'm a wrestling promoter I'm sitting my talent down and making them watch the extras because this man knows how to cut a promo! Ladies and gentlemen my pen name is ECWintheD and I am a Paul Heyman guy.

Familiar Territory, But a Fun Game Nonetheless
on April 19, 2015

Verified Purchase:Yes
The Good:
+A really good story
+Good graphics
+Strong voice acting brings it to life
+Familiar free flowing combat is still satisfying
+Lots of side missions to keep you busy
+A strong multiplayer component
The Bad:
-Gotham City feels strangely lifeless
-Some of it is just a little too familiar. There's nothing here that builds upon what Arkham City established before it. This isn't necessarily "bad" but the experience feels far too similar
When Batman Arkham Asylum came out, it was a burst of fresh air and a relief. For the first time in a very long time the Batman license was put to good use. Arkham City then turned out to be a really good sequel in its own right with a fantastic story and a fantastic open world, building up on what Arkham Asylum established and managing to feel different just the same. Now we have Batman Arkham Origins. A prequel that is set in Gotham just two years after Wayne has dawned the cape and cowl. It's a good game in its own right, and is really only hindered by the fact that it does little (if anything) to set itself apart from the game that came before it. But then again... Arkham City is a hard act to follow.
The criminal Black Mask has put a 50 million dollar bounty on Batman's head. As such, assassins from all over are coming to Gotham to take that bounty on. In conjunction with that, the police aren't sure if Batman is helping to escalate crime or if he's actually stopping them. Origins actually has a really good story. It doesn't reach the heights of Arkham City, but it's good nonetheless, establishing the relationships that Batman has with some criminals and with some of the characters we've come to know and love. The production values are as top notch as you'd expect. The voice acting, despite a different cast of voice actors for Batman and The Joker, is quite good in its own right. The game also has a good graphical presentation, making for a good looking game. Although the one problem I have with it is that the game gives a pitiful excuse as to why there are no citizens wandering the city--a curfew. In a way it sort of drains Gotham of life and more or less just makes Gotham seem like a bigger Arkham City. There are side missions but none of them ever really involve saving citizens. Usually just going around beating up criminals.
Speaking of that, the free-flowing combat is exactly the same as you remember. This isn't such a bad thing. You'll be beating up thugs and have a chance to counter them just as you always have. You get weapons that help you in your beat downs, but aside from that this is the same familiar combat system you've always known. Which is fine and dandy, although this doesn't make boss fights exciting on any level. In the previous games some bosses there were very specific tasks that had to be done. The fight with characters like Mr. Freeze in Arkham City come to mind. But here it's mostly just like fighting another thug. The boss fights here just aren't that exciting to play.
Like in previous games you'll find lots of gadgets for Batman to use. However, just like the combat, there's not really anything new here. At some point a lot of ground just feels too familiar. The new studio behind Batman Arkham Origins seems to have gotten caught in the trap that many developers get caught in. Certainly you don't need to fix what isn't broken, but there are times when Batman Arkham Origins feels like it's lifting far too much from the previous game without laying down any new track. It's not really building on the foundation set before it, This isn't quite as bothersome in many regards, but it makes the game feel like baby steps from the previous game as opposed to great strides. Many of the side missions you'll come to expect such as the Riddler trophies or just running around the city to beat up thugs. But there are some pretty cool side missions that actually do add to the story and give you the sense of the relationship that Batman has with his adversaries. That's not to say there is nothing new. You can actually access the Batcave here. You can get some advice from Alfred and you can change your suit and go train. It's nice to have a bit of a hub area this time around.
What actually works out surprisingly well is the multiplayer. I never pictured the Arkham games as needing a multiplayer. And a lot of the times when there's a multiplayer component added to a game that was clearly not built up for one it's usually pretty poor (Tomb Raider comes to mind). Here it actually works. You play as either Batman and Robin or as thugs trying to take them down. It's actually really intense and quite fun. Batman and Robin employ various takedowns while thugs have guns at their disposal. It's surprisingly fun to play.
Arkham Origins exceeds on a technical level, having some really good looking character models and good looking environments. As mentioned it doesn't feel as alive as it could be, but it's not a bad looking game by any means. The soundtrack is one of the biggest rewards here. It's a really good one. About what you'd expect from an Arkham game. The only thing that keeps Arkham Origins down is that so much of it feels like a retread of familiar territory. There's nothing here that really tries to build on the foundation of what was already established in the game before it. Arkham City did a good job of building up on what was established in Asylum despite having a lot of familiar gameplay. It feels like the developers here were playing it safe. The good news is that Origins isn't a step back. It's just not a big step forward. It does have it where it counts, though. A strong story and a good narrative to accompany it. If you liked the previous Arkham games then Origins is worth your time.

It Converted me!!!

First off, I am an avid Call of Duty player for years and also had a run with MAG(great multiplayer domination). I prestiged to the 15th on Black ops and to the 10th on MW3(which are maxxed), that being said, I absolutely love Battlefield 3! If you are buying for the single player campaign mode from what I have read it is OK at best. I buy these FPS games for the multiplayer and that is where BF3 shines. If you are a Call of Duty gamer, you will probally hate this game at first, hard to aim and get kills when compared to CODs MW3 if you are accustomed to the fast pace arcade style warfare. Give it a few days and if you are like me you will get into the Battlefield flow and your game will start to improve. Both games are great in my opinion and after maxxing out MW3, I needed something new and BF3 hit the spot. You will get your A-s kicked in the beginning if you are new to Battlefields or just switched from Call of Duty. The secret is you have to get pounded several hours before you get unlocked weapons and attachments. I love the fast pace of COD, but this game definitely has more all out war feel. If you do not own a quality stereo or dolby headset get one, I can say the graphics are good, but the sounds are great! Very happy with my purchase and the Limited Edition copy gives you some weapon unlocks as well as 4 extra maps, so I definitely reccomend this version(the map pack by itself is 14.99 plus game cost). The amount of vehicles and weapons with different attachments will keep the replay value high. So give it a try and dont let the first day depress you it gets better, as I am hooked! Thanks for reading and hope this helps some of you!

The One That Started It All

In a world where the airways seem to be ruled by uninspired and badly dubbed anime, Nickledeon has created something truley amazing. A show that both kids and adults can enjoy, complete with tremendous voice acting, fantastic animation, good music, and awesome execution.
Season One of Avatar begins with a war going on between nations who control different elements through techniques called 'bending'. There's the Fire Nation, which, under Fire Lord Ozai, is attempting to take over the rest of the world. The Avatar, the only one who can control all four elements, is supposed to stop power imbalances between the nations, but the war started 100 years ago and the Avatar hasn't been seen since. And with the airbenders already wiped out and the water tribes being composed of tiny populations, only the great Earth Kingdom remains intact.
What makes this show great is a combination of character and plot. The characters aren't stereotypical. They act in predictable ways sometimes, but then there are episodes that really show their deeper sides (The Storm, The Fortune Teller, and The Blue Spirit are all examples of this.) The story focuses around the main characters Sokka, Katara, and Aang, the Avatar (returning to the world after being incased in an iceberg for 100 years.) There's also the Fire Nation's General Iroh, Price Zuko (a banished prince trying to regain his honor by capturing the Avatar) and Admiral Zhao. However out of these characters only Admiral Zhao seems truley evil. Zuko and Iroh however are in the gray.
There's some fantastic fight scenes in this series. The Blue Spirit, Jet, and Bato of the Water Tribe are all episodes with incredible choreography. Animation is top notch. There was only one episode where it went down a little. And finally the Season Finale is really well done and filled with mythology about the spirit world which the Avatar must learn to communicate, as well as he must learn to master the four elements to defeat the Fire Lord.
As good as Season One is, it's inferior to Season 2. If you thought that the Earth Kingdom was portrayed as the good guys and the Fire Nation are the only ones with bad leadership, Season 2 may change your mind. However as a first season of a show Avatar succeeds incredibly well. Recommended to people of all ages. There's some corneyness in a few episodes, but the series does a great job of catering to all ages.

The best Madea Film yet!

Tyler Perry is a very interesting person. He gives Tommy Wiseau a run for his money. In pretty much all his movies, there is random sub-plot drama that I love to make fun of. There is always some woman in an abusive relationship or trying to better herself, up to a family member slowly dying from a disease. Personally, I just wish he'd stick directly on the Madea character. She's the main star that everyone wants to see. That's what was great about her last outing, Witness Protection. It was basically focused on her and dealing with Eugene Levy's family.
A Madea Christmas kinda returns to the basics with a little family drama, but not overkill. It was the right amount of drama and the right amount of Madea. It's filled with good comedy, cheesy but funny one- liners, good messages, and should hopefully put you in the Christmas spirit.
Madea is working part-time at a department store for the holidays with her friend, Eileen. Eileen is depressed because her daughter, Lacey won't be able to make it home for Christmas. Eileen asks a reluctant Madea to help drive her out to Alabama to Lacey's for Christmas. Lacey is startled because she has not told her mom that she has married a white man named Conner. Lacey soon has to deal with in-laws, keeping secrets from her mom and trying to get the Christmas Jubilee to keep its religious tone. If you love Madea and Christmas movies, I highly recommend A MADEA CHRISTMAS!!!

Rise of Aquaman

The movie was ok though I think Justice League: War was better. It seems that they are forgoing any type of story development in favor of action and fighting scenes. At the first the Atlantians are strong and skilled fighters that can damage a 1/4 ton Cyborg then they're just "ordinary" bad guys that die so easily from a stern look by Batman. The Atlantian army is part of the coup, but then at the end they are shocked that a coupe happened...just examples of the inconsistencies that occur numerous time throughout the film.
I didn't like how they compensated for how weak the Atlantian army was against the JL by making the Trident Spear all powerful. Oceanmaster beats up the entire League, yet is beaten Aquaman who had just gotten his butt kicked by Manta Ray. I will always support the DCAU original movies and look forward to their release, but I feel the New 52 based movies are not as well done as say Batman: Mask of the Red Hood or Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths.
Overall I recommend this as a rental. I also bought the blu-ray / dvd combo, but I did it to support future DCAU releases.

I could write a really long-winded, detailed review of this album. I could talk about how "Mary, Did You Know" will make you cry. I could heap praises on the unspeakably amazing arrangement of "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" which is even more astounding than usual for a group that always does astounding arrangements. I could get all excited about Kirstie and Avi nailing their leads ("Sleigh Ride" and "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" respectively) AND the fact that Kevin gets to sing several lines in "Mary..." I could rave over their original song "That's Christmas to Me" which is both beautiful and moving. Oh, I could even claim that the chord variations introduced in "Silent Night" are actually how the song was supposed to be performed all this time, but we have been getting it wrong for the past 200 years! I could talk all day about the way "Hark! the Herald Angels Sing" starts out with the most beautiful traditional choral performance and ends up as a rousing gospel piece. I could wind up by talking about how the remaining four seasonal songs ("Let It Go", "White Winter Hymnal", "Don't Worry Be Happy/Winter Wonderland", "Santa Claus is Coming to Town") are amazing in their own ways. But I won't......because that would take too much time that I could spend listening to this incredible album. So.......................just buy it! Run, don't walk to your favorite store or click, click, click as fast as you can and download it right now. Don't wait until Christmas. You won't be sorry!

Season two finds our heroes after the events of season one, new characters and new plotlines make this season a keeper. I can't believe we are nearing the end of the series ark. Season three is said to be the last season, (which it should be, the story will be done after Aang learns how to fire bend and defeats the Fire Nation, better to have three GOOD seasons than six consecutive ones!)and what a show it has been! Kids and adults alike are flocking to their television screens to watch the adventures of these kids expand further, mysteries and suspenseful twists make this show great even for people older than twelve. The background track music also plays a key part in the show, making every joke, action, and plotline maximized to it's fullest potential.
I recommend this show to anyone with a sense of individuality, not worried about the fact that they're watching an animated feature.

I read the Hunger Games series again from start to finish over the summer, and I gotta say I really have developed an even stronger admiration for the series. The same can be said for the two previous movies: The Hunger Games and The Hunger Games Catching Fire respectively. And one of my most anticipated movies of 2014 was none other than Mockingjay Part 1.
Time has passed since Katniss sent her arrow flying into the base of the arena in the 75th Hunger Games. And Katniss is not quite the same person she was. Peeta is a captive of the Capitol, her home District 12 is in ruins, and an offer has been proposed for her to become the new leader, a template to show the President Snow and the Capitol that she is in fact The Mockingjay.
3 is the number that sometimes doesn't work for a movie trilogy but thankfully for The Hunger Games movies, Mockingjay Part 1 DOES. Starting first with Jennifer Lawrence, she once again shines in her role as Katniss; she definitely fulfills the necessary emotions of fear, depression, and resilience throughout the course of the movie. And she does harmonize the "Hanging Tree" tune very beautifully. Liam Hemsworth does well in the movie as Gale; going to extreme lengths to keep Katniss happy. This time around, Finnick is a man who has lost something so precious to his heart, and Sam Claflin nails it. Josh Hutcherson definitely deserves attention for his role as Peeta in Mockingjay Part 1. He is being tortured and made to tell Katniss and the Districts that no one is safe. And Peeta is assuredly NOT the same boy from the past two movies. Woody Harrelson returns as Haymitch and does a good job. Elizabeth Banks plays Effie Trinkett and does really well, even without all her makeup. And Donald Sutherland's role as President Snow is a lot more effective. He is wicked and determined to destroy Katniss and her Mockingjay image and strip any thought/symbol of hope that people in the districts may have. Julianne Moore plays President Coin and Phillip Seymour Hoffman returns as Plutarch. Characters like Boggs and Cressida were cast well as Mahershala Ali and Natalie Dormer prove in the movie. More importantly, the whole of the cast led by the direction of Francis Lawrence did great.
Much like The Hunger Games Catching Fire, I Really appreciate the way the writers were able to script the movie with some things that were in the novel, while also adding a few other pieces to it. The themes in this movie, especially with the whole political conflict and fight for justice/freedom feel relevant to our times. And if anyone were to ask me if I was ready for the 2nd part of this finale I would most certainly say YES I AM.
I had sheer enjoyment watching Mockingjay Part 1 today, and while you wait for Part 2 to release, my final words would be GO SEE Mockingjay Part 1.
RIP to Phillip Seymour Hoffman

“The Purge” was a standard Hollywood thriller with a stellar premise. A good ten years into the future, unemployment is way down and violent crime is practically non-existent thanks to a yearly event called The Purge. For twelve hours every year (7PM-7AM, sometime in March), all crime including murder is legal. Emergency services are turned off. This tends to weed out the poor, the homeless, or “non-contributing members of society.”
The first film focused on an affluent family whose home was broken into by others jealous of their wealth. It made for a serviceable home invasion thriller, but was truly a missed opportunity given the rich concept. “The Purge: Anarchy” feels like what the first film should have been. It’s not much different than “Crash,” where unrelated characters and stories come together and create a common bond among vastly different people.
An unnamed hero (Frank Grillo) saves two sets of people, a working class mother and daughter, and a couple on the verge of separation, both of whom were unluckily thrown out on the streets in the midst of the annual purge. The unlikely gang has to work together to save each other from certain death.
The concept is so interesting because of its plausibility. America is a country obsessed with violence, and everyone in this getting more and more angry with society. We blindly follow rules and regulations that the government swears are in our own best interest. “Anarchy” features a radical group of Youtube-bloggers whose mission is to expose the world to the truth that it is apparently too lazy to see.
In this world, the very rich (the 1%, if you will) hold ‘auctions’ on purge night, where people bid on strangers on a stage, the highest bidder getting to kill whoever they bid on. How reprehensible is that? The scariest thing is that, if something like the purge ever came into reality, this is exactly how things would go. But I think, as American citizens, we’re really far away from anything like that being a reality. Right?
The film is suspenseful and fast enough to forgive its stock characters and mid-grade dialogue. Details of the plot are paid heavier attention than dialogue, which I can live with. This one kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. While the home-invasion version of this story was fine, this is the story that should have been told the first go around. There’s civil unrest and abhorrent violence at every turn, but there’s also justice for the bad guys, and mercy for those who don’t deserve to die that way. If you haven’t seen the first “Purge”, you can still see this one without missing anything. In fact, if you haven’t seen the first film, I would recommend watching this one first. It’s much better and far more satisfying.
