A bit overpriced for performance

I had a few dead spots in the corners of my house, so I decided to shell out the $400 and replace my 1 1/2 year old Netgear X6 (which was a superb router)... 1st received Asus AC5300 had a busted antenna, so it took forever for me to get it replaced (have your order deliver to your house of you buy it from Besbuy.com, cause router is not available in stores, therefore it is a complete hassle to have it repaired/replaced if you order on line and pick it up at store. Don't make the same mistake I made)... The Router has an awesome look and its massive in size. It looks like something out of StarWars, and although it's missing the extra 2 LAN connections that the Netgear X8 (comparable competition model) has, the Asus makes it up in performance. Coverage is exceptional and best of all, Asus has a much better software than all of the competition combined... A nice software feature is the ability of the Asus to combine all the 3 bands (2.4Ghz, 5.0Ghz A and 5.0Ghz B) all in one, giving users only 1 Wifi to connect to, and the Asus router's hardware/software does a perfect job in placing the connected devices on the perfect band, depending on type and distance of any given device. It works like a champ... On other routers, you would have to choose on either 2.4 'or' 5.0 bands, not allowing you to take advantage of the benefits of each band, like the Asus software does. It makes a huge difference in the traffic of your network.... The Asus also has a decent APP, that lets you do pretty much everything, from blocking users, to give time limit to other users or guests, and even have the capability to shut off router altogether (awesome for those with kids and Internet time management)... The only reason I gave it 4 stars, was the price. I feel that my old Netgear X6 router, would give this new Asus a run for its money, and are very close in speed and coverage, and being almost $150 less, I think I would have stayed with my old Netgear X6... Just for the price... If you have the cash, and want top end Wifi performance, this Asus is hands down the best your money can buy!

Worth every penney, excellent coverage

I've had this unit for over 1 year now, and it has been by far the best router that money could buy last year. Excellent range, and has been able to handle over 25 phones/tablets/PCs connected at the same time (during two different fantasy football draft parties), and not a single disconnect nor dropped signals. I don't have a single complaint, the X6 has been a beast... I recently upgraded to the new Asus RT-AC5300, and it would be unfair to compare units due to the fact that the Asus is over $100 more, and the Asus is by far the best router in the market right now, but I can bet my hard earn money, that my old Netgear X6, was by far the best router for the $250-$300 price range butgets, no doub about it... The Netgear X6 met and exceeded all my expectations!

No matter where you are, bedroom to backyard, you’ll experience a stronger, faster connection with this tri-band NETGEAR router. Get rid of lag, freezing, and buffering while you game, stream and more on multiple devices.

Excellent, but not worth the extra cash

I recently upgraded to this monster of a router from my Netgear X6, but honestly, even though this router has a few more extras, my old X6 covered just about the same range and handled all my tablets/phones/PCs just the same as this new X8. So spending an extra $80-$100, depending on the sale price, it's not worth the jump... If you are one of those high tech guys and have the need for 6 wired devices, this would be a perfect fir for you... I had to be honest and gave it the 4 star that this router deserves, because after all, the router is a beast, but if all you need is to give wifi to 10-15 different pheripherals, there are other cheaper routers that will get the job done, with out breaking the bank (like the Netgear X6)!.

Not as expected

I thought extender would help my wifi reach the furthest areas of my backyard that are about 40 feet from my router, so I plugged the extender in an a/c outlet in my outside covered terrace (right I the middle of my router and furthest point), and signal did not improved... I have a Netgear Nighthawk 6, and the router by itself worked better than with extender attached!... Installation was also a bit complicated, and I am pretty savvy when it comes to PC peripherals, but it still took me quite a while to set this extender. Returned extender the very next day!

Perfect for 100 yards range

Not many ranges over 100 yards in the south Florida area, so for the use at hand, this scope is worth every penney... Probably I would have been better off if eye optic was slanted instead of straight (that was my mistake when I made the purchase), because when shooting from a sitting bench (like most ranges for riles), you have to move riffle out of the way and re-adjust straight scope to see your hits on the target. If eye relief was angled, I could have positioned scope further down on the table and never had to move to look at target... But hey, that's a beginners mistake, but in no way of form, it takes the credit from this little scope, it served its purpose and will be in my gun arsenal for years to come. It is perfect for what I paid for it!
