This is a remarkable and extraordinary film. It raises the film making art to a different level. The direction, cinematography, editing, and sound are exceptional.
I've seen this film approximately 30 to 40 times in my life, and I never get tired of it. Boneheaded, but well meaning father, Clark Griswold, driving his wife and two kids on a cross country family vacation, from Chicago to a California theme park, to spend time with all of them, before the kids are too old for such things.
No need to repeat the plot; others have stated it quite well. An excellent movie, keeps you on the edge of your seat. Christopher Plummer is, of course, excellent.
One of the funniest movies ever made. Every line, prop, and costume seem as though they were designed by a genius. This movie is perfect in every way. Good clean family fun.
