I saw this used on the new Dell Desktop that I was purchasing at the time and had to have it. I hadn't even really planned to buy a monitor but when I asked about it, the salesman checked and showed the only one they had was an open box unit. It looked brand new and I got a few bucks off so I went ahead.
When I got home and opened the box it looked like someone had just opened the top; everything in there was packaged like new. Plus it was Best Buy so I knew if there was an issue, it would be resolved.
That's one of the main reasons I buy from BB - excellent customer service and hassle free replacements if there is an issue.
So in short - Monitor is awesome, Best Buy is excellent.

Upgraded from original Automatic v1

I really didn't have a choice as many of the things tracked via their API like events and fuel levels would no longer work for the v1. To be clear they worked, but Automatic stopped supporting them through their API. This meant no fuel levels or info from Alexa or Google Home and no API support for my home automation software.
Pluses - it's nice that it has its own cell radio so I'm not using the phone data and the software works well. Integration with Alexa/GHome works well and the locations are more precise.
Negative - Features still haven't carried over that were available on the v1 and the newer 'Classic'; two of the most important were the audible warnings on hard breaking/acceleration and speed limit. These were useful and really helped me change my driving habits, resulting in much better fuel economy. Can't understand why an upgraded model would be missing features from the cheaper and original models. They say some of those things will come, but the Pro has been out for a long time now and they are still missing. If it's important to you, be aware of this.
Overall though, I am pleased and would recommend.

Going to be a lot of these connected on Christmas day. Especially at these prices. I already have a Google Home so it was a no brainer to add this into my existing system. Like the Echo Dot, it fits just about anywhere.
I would only deduct one star for no line out. Bluetooth is great, but a line out would have been better.

No point in buying high end Monster cables when it comes to HDMI. It's a digital format so shielding and thicker cables aren't going to make a difference unless you are running a $15,000 plus amp/TV combo.

Overall, I am really happy with my Shield. I'm not a gamer and I bought this primarily for it's ability to run as a Plex Media Server. I bought a new 4k TV and it's impossible to watch 4k content over my wifi from my old PC Plex server. Plex really pushed this ability and as a PlexPass member I bought in...
Now since there are 2 USB ports and the latest update supports adoptable storage, I thought I could save myself $100 bucks by buying a 16GB model and then attaching a USB HDD for my media and buying a 128gb stick drive to expand the internal memory. The HDD worked great, but here's the problem with the 128gb stick.
While it DID expand the Shield's internal storage, Plex - for some unfathomable reason - stores all of it's metadata (the movie reviews, posters, PlexPass content features; all the stuff that makes Plex worthwhile) ONLY IN A SECURE LOCATION IN THE SHIELD'S PHYSICAL INTERNAL STORAGE. It does NOT use adoptable storage as a location for the metadata. If you have a halfway decent collection of music, movies and TV shows, this will quickly blow out the internal storage to the point where your Shield will lock up.
Why Plex has done this is beyond me. If I had known this, I would have bought the more expensive 500gb model, but Plex not only didn't make this information available when the Shield launched, they also haven't fixed it yet.
It's not a problem on Shield's part; kodi stores all it's metadata in adoptable. So this is something that you should know about before making a purchase.
Otherwise, I'm super pleased with playback on the Shield and am starting to play games on it and loving features like Live Channels. It's a great device, but be aware of Plex's current limitations on it.

I'm using this as a dashboard for my home automation system and in that respect this tab fits the bill perfectly. It's a little slow and the graphics aren't top notch, which may put some power users off if they are looking to use this for a primary tablet, but for casual users this is just fine.

I just bought this tablet a few days ago. It seems to work fine, but every now and then it makes this soft kind of scratchy sound. This happens even when it's not in use. Should I go an try to exchange it or is this normal?

How come the micro sd card will show its in tablet but shows no provision to download apps that will download to all my other device micro sd.
Moving apps to the SD card is dependent on the OS not the tablet. This feature has been absent from Android OS for two versions now.

How does one connect a bluetooth wireless mouse or keyboard to this tablet? All that I have seen require a USB dongle (connectivity device) which requires a USB port. I do not find one of those on this tablet.
Bluetooth radio is built in so all you need to do is pair the device. No dongle required.

If my wifi is acting up, can i still print?
Going to college and I'm not sure if my wifi will always be reliable.
You can always use the printer directly connected via USB, but in my experience the Epson has never had WIFI issues unless the network itself was having an issue. You just set it up and it works.

You don't have to connect them to the "internet", you can just use a non routable address (192.168.1.x) and keep it local to your network.
