Fire stick with Kodi expands horizons

Main reason to buy this was the ability to add Kodi app to this device. The Fire Stick is pretty neat, and has a lot of options to view content with Amazon Prime. Then the ability to add the Kodi software expands the available media quite a bit.

Router with Excellent WiFi Coverage

This router was suggested by a Comcast Rep and is working well with good WiFi coverage thought the 1500 sqft building. Router is in one corner, and we can access from the furthest corner with acceptable loss of speed. Comcast does not recognize the N450 as an approved model. Say its CG3000DV2

Easy Single Cup Coffee

Worked well for me. Has the choice of Keurig coffee or Ground. Has adapters for both. That way got to try some of the ground beans that was waiting to be used. The water container has to be filled each time and takes about a medium cup size of water. The place where you keep the cup is tall enough to put in a travel mug also. Nice !!

Apple TV lets you stream your personal movies (movies ripped from your own DVDs and saved on your phone, tablet, ipod / MP3 player, etc.) from device to tv. Will the Amazon Fire TV Stick allow you to do the same?
Yes, with the PLEX software. Has to be installed on both the Stick and your PC.

Fire stick VS Amazon Fire TV
why would i buy the fire stick opposed to the amazon fire tv? I can't figure out which I need.
If price is not an issue, then go with the fire TV. Else the Fire Stick. Also the Fire stick conveniently connects at the back of the TV, so its well hidden. The fire TV has more performance, if you are using for games etc. Otherwise the stick should be fine.

I currently have ATT uverse which includes TV and internet. what do I have to do to get wifi?
You could check with ATT and get a wireless router. That will give you WiFi

Can I use this in other countries? Say India?
It could be. But look into adding the Kodi app/software to the firestick, and you will be able to view a lot of content without any international limitations. Search for Kodi and firestick on the internet.

Can I play movies I already stored on my PC?
Connecting via my home network and wifi, can I simply play movies already on my hard drive? Thanks
There is a software/app called PLEX that can help you do that. Search YouTube with Plex and Firestick, and install Plex on both the PC and Firestick.

sleep mode
my new amazon fire stick worked when i first tried it and i think i hit the sleep mode and now its not working. How do i get it out of sleep mode or how long is it in sleep mode?
If you press the Home button, it should get out of sleep mode, unless the you are using the TV's USB port to power the stick. So if the TV went to sleep, then the stick may not be getting any power. The Sleep timer can be changed in Settings.

Amazon and Netflix query
I subscribe to Netflix and Amazon. Once I download them using fires tick, will it require any membership/password to enable me to use them without paying more. Also on the set up as my partner purchased the fire stick it has his name in the set up. Will this affect me using my memberships with the Amazon prime and Netflix ?
When the Firestick is first setup it requires an Amazon username and password to be entered. Otherwise it does not function. But it does not matter whose username/pass is used. There are no additional costs to view Amazon or Netflix. Just requires you to login the first time, and then it remembers that information (Netflix or Amazon). To clear this login info you go to Settings and erase all settings.
