I really sought this out for Jake Gyllenhaal. Avoid the spoilers, because there are some shocking moments to this movie, but definitely stick it out. The film is frequently terrifying and possesses one of the greatest finales I've seen in a while.
The entire series may have run its course a few seasons ago, but it's nice to get an ending of some sort, wouldn't you agree? The alternative would have been cancellation and some dangling threads here and there, but Fox was able to tie this up pretty nicely, if a little calculatedly. A very entertaining series!
When I saw the trailer for this picture, I really thought Gyllenhaal had his sights set on an Oscar. Then I saw the film. Gyllenhaal's performance is great, as always, but the film is very heavy-handed in its approach. (At one point, Gyllenhaal's character even says aloud, "Everything is a metaphor.") You don't have to beat us over the head with the allegories and symbolism, Hollywood. Your audience is smarter than you think.
I think it's safe to write that with such films as SAVING PRIVATE RYAN and series like BAND OF BROTHERS, FURY was a commendable addition to the WWII pantheon of films, but no more really needs to be said after this particular film. Great job!
What a fantastic film! It's THE GODFATHER of anime, and I simply had to purchase this for one of my graduating seniors. Anime and manga are very popular with teens today, but they all seem so ignorant that this film even exists.
When I saw "Sessions" in the title, I was rather expecting live or unrehearsed or rather raw versions of new material, but it's as polished as anything else in the band's repertoire and sounds best with the sliding glass door open or the windows rolled down. This band can do no wrong.

Were it not for Affleck, this movie wouldn't have made a mark in Hollywood. Even as far as the screenplay goes, it would not have the staying power without Affleck. This movie will stick with you for days, perhaps even weeks. It's a difficult film to watch for the tragedy of it. Fans of Hollywood endings need not apply here.
Fantastic follow-up to Adams' 1989 ... which was the best breakup album *not* written by Ryan Adams ... there's nary a throwaway track on this collection, which is one of the best albums since GOLD.
