I bought this simply to watch and prepare for Suicide Squad. The movie itself was ok, and I'm hoping for more out of the Batman V. Superman film. Although, this series did ruin a great thing by casting the Dark Knight series to the side.

I bought this for a friend as a gift for house/dog sitting for my wife and I. I've been trying to help her with her photography and figured this would be a nice step up for her from her kit lens. We opened the lens together and I immediately noticed the cheap plastic feel. The Nikon counterpart is plastic as well, but it's a tougher, thicker plastic. I also noticed that this is not an internal focusing system. The inside barrel that moves the glass for focusing protrudes out beyond the end of the outer shell of the lens. Not a big deal but this inside barrel is even flimsier plastic than the outside. Personally I'd feel like I'd break this lens by just looking at it wrong.

As for actual performance, I haven't gotten to see many photos taken with this lens, but from what I have, this guy performs admirably for the price. I'd still recommend this lens to somebody that's just getting in to photography and wants to take a jump up in lens quality. It's a prime, so it doesn't zoom, but don't let that scare you. This lens can still be versatile for you. I have the Nikon counterpart and love walking around with my 50mm to capture shots throughout my day. I even had a recent trip to NYC and used the 50mm almost exclusively while walking around doing street photography.

I just did a recent portrait shoot and this was the only lens I pulled of my bag. This guy is a great, light weight option, especially on a DX (Crop) Sensor (because of the extended reach you get). I can't remember the exact number but this lens actually ends up being over 100mm on a crop sensor. Because of that, you get even more compression on shots which makes for great portraits. This paired with my d7200 has been nothing short of majestic (when the Green Ranger comes back as the White Ranger type of majestic).
