Did not seem to do a very good job

While they should not be needed, no instructions were included with the item.
Did a full deep charge, unplugged, and plugged back in to ensure that it was topped off. Plugged into my phone,and the charge in the phone actually seemed to continue to go down during normal usage rather than recharging. I've not tried to use it again since.

Good basic cable - won't work with all cases

The cable is solidly built and works for both charging and data transfer.
Unfortunately, my work cell phone is in a "Lifeproof" brand waterproof case. The more 'robust' connector around the lightning end of the cable does not fit into the opening in the case - if I want to use this cable with this phone, I have to take it out of the case, essentially defeating the purpose of having such a case in the first place.
I'd recommend looking at the opening in the case you use. This works fine with my personal cell phone.

For the most part, a cable is a cable. As long as it is assembled properly, it should do its job of getting data to its destination. When we moved to a new home, we needed a longer Cat-5 cable to go from the modem to the main computer, so I went looking for a 25 ft cable. This one met our needs.
