Legendary Three's Company star John Ritter may be gone, but the spirit of Jack Tripper lives on in this feature-packed Anchor Bay release. Each episode is presented as originally aired in 1.33:1 full-frame and is accompanied by a closed-captioned English Dolby Digital Mono audio mix. If fans felt somewhat let down by the lack of extras on the season one release, the abundant amount of supplemental materials provided here should more than make up for any past disappointment. Beginning with the inclusion of the never-before-seen pilot episode shot before Joyce DeWitt and Suzanne Somers were cast, viewers can get a feel for what might have been if things hadn't turned out the way they did. A featurette entitled "John Ritter: Always Leave Them Laughing" offers a loving tribute to the pre-maturely deceased star, and after getting a chuckle or two out of the blooper reel, Ritter fans will find that the memories keep rolling in with "Eight Years of Laughter," which offers some of the star's funniest Three's Company moments. If you're a fan of Janet, Chrissy, or the Ropers you'll certainly get a kick out of the excerpts of their finest moments from season two. Rounding out the exhaustive extras are a trivia game, a memorabilia gallery, a still gallery, and talent files.
Three's Company would become a huge hit for ABC and remain popular in syndication for nearly two decades. The show started its first season as a replacement series with only six episodes being created. Each of those episodes are presented on this box set on a transfer that preserves the original broadcast aspect ratio of 1.33:1. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Stereo. There are no supplemental materials of any consequence, but the shows themselves should satisfy any fan of the series.
