Despite critical praise, this game does not redeem the Rabbids.
Though it appears to be very similar to X-Com games, there are none of the elements that make X-Com fun. No randomization, no surprises, and no intelligent enemies. Worst of all, there is little need for critical thinking in this game.
I would say that this game is perfect for kids, but it really isn't. It continues to play off of the slapstick humor of the Rabbids series while disguising itself as a strategy game. My child and I were both surprisingly disappointed by this game, despite our shared love of Mario and friends.
There are better games for the Switch and there are better games for kids to be playing.

Link from Majora's Mask holding a Goron Mask. It doesn't get any better.
The Amiibo works in most compatible games, but unlocks unique content in Breath of the Wild.

The Nintendo Switch is advertised as being portable and easy to use on the go. However, it's tiny battery life and large size make it inconvenient and impossible to play without standing out. It's too big to fit in a normal human pocket, making it worse with portability than the 3DS handheld. The launch lineup was also very poor and hasn't become much better since. This console seems to be receiving a drip-feed of one game per month from Nintendo while most other desirable games and developers seems to shy away from the Switch due to high development and manufacturing costs.
The console itself has potential, but it could have and should have been a more powerful, stationary unit like the PlayStation or Xbox consoles. Ironically, the biggest competitor and reason not to buy and play the Switch is another of Nintendo's systems: the 3DS. It's more portable, has a better library/battery, and plays games at a higher frame rate in most cases.

Save yourself and your daughter from a zombie-infested town in Dead Rising 2 for the PlayStation 4. When hoards of undead swarm Fortune City, you have 72 hours to fend off the ghouls and stay alive. Fight, slash and kill bloodthirsty fiends, and strategize wisely to survive Dead Rising 2.

Against all odds, Capcom seems to have done away with what made Dead Rising great for this sequel game. Zombies are less eager to pounce on the protagonist despite being greater in number, the survivors are somehow dumber than they were in the original game, and the game crashes frequently (4 crashes in 10 hours of gameplay). The story itself also glitched on me, rendering the game unplayable unless I restart entirely.
The game does have some upsides. Two-player online co-op and four-player online minigames are a nice addition. Keep in mind that there is no matchmaking for co-op. You must know and invite a specific person.
I would recommend Dead Rising, also on PS4, over Dead Rising 2 to most people. The only advantage this one has is online multiplayer with friends.

Dragon Quest Disappoints Again

This game, created by Omega Force in the fashion of a Musou/Warriors game, leaves a lot to be desired. It forgoes any attempt at a massive roster for a smaller, more detailed playable cast but falls short of its intended mark. Many characters feel and play similarly, getting boring quickly.
Dragon Quest Heroes, as a series, also banks on nostalgia and recognizable characters to draw interest. However, many Dragon Quest games did not initially make it to North America and the DS family remakes did not receive enough acclaim to be easily available. For the most part, the nostalgia factor will go to waste considering how few have played the Dragon Quest games which have characters featured here.
All-in-all, the hack-n-slash gameplay is fun for a while but the game is too shallow to be worth purchasing at a retail price. I'd recommend whatever the most recent Samurai or Dynasty Warriors game is. Those will have more content and a better story than Dragon Quest Heroes II.

Escape flesh-eating mobs in Dead Rising for PlayStation 4. You're Frank West, an innocent photojournalist trapped inside a zombie pandemic. To survive, you must use your wits and inflict violence because hordes of hungry undead are coming your way. Be resourceful and take advantage of shopping mall weapons to smash enemies in Dead Rising.

The title says it all. This game is just as fun as it was back in the early Xbox 360 days.
The characters are quirky and serious and the premise is ridiculous. The ultimate comedic setting combined with unexpectedly fun gameplay makes this oldie a goldie.
Unlike the PS4 port of Dead Rising 2, I have not had any errors, glitches, or game breaks despite playing it for more hours and it being older than the sequel game.
I highly recommend picking up this gem, especially if you haven't had a chance to play it before. As of right now, Best Buy has the best price when factoring in GCU for a sealed copy.
Do yourself a favor and get to know Frank West.

Super Mario 3D Land for the Nintendo 3DS is perhaps the best Mario game to be released since Sunshine on the GameCube. Its use of perspective and 3D to make the player stop and think about the game world is always refreshing. The game incorporates many familiar aspects of 3D Mario games such as Mario 64 and Sunshine while also pushing the bar, all while being portable and easy to play in quick bursts or long sessions. The gradual increase in difficulty is manageable for players of all levels and the game is much longer than it initially appears. I would recommend this game to anyone who hasn't given it a fair shot.
