I don't want to give anything away about this movie. Just know that it is a nerve-rattler and kinda expect the unexpected. It starsts off a little slow at first. John Goodman's performance is so creepy but so good. It's more of a Psychological Thriller than it is Horror. Trust me it's a scream! Plus, the price for it is awesome.

La Flame's H-Town Haunt-Hop

Travis Scott is strangely special. There is something absolutely mysterious, haunting yet endearing about him. Rodeo expresses that peculiar blend in a magnetic way. The album tells a story that isn't pretty or light by any means. But, the dark and menacing sounds of it exposes a layer of something untainted...his voice. Not necessarily his actual voice but his truths. The T.I. narrated album opener "P0rn0graphy" and murky beginning/optimistic clarity of the colorful mood shifter "Oh My Dis Side" represents this point incredibly. He talks about all the usual points in Hip-Hop: drugs, $ex, money and adjustment to fame. Still, Scott is able to make all those subjects sound freshly re-imagined with his creeping and chilling choice of production: "P!ss On Your Grave", "Antidote" and "Maria I'm Drunk". Sonic-wise the album pulls from Trap, Metal, Psych-Rock, Grunge and Electronica which only enhances the flair. Even, with all the weight and weightlessness of the gloomy sounds, he manages to express a romantic vulnerability on "Impossible". Travis Scott unleashed a bizarre jet-black "horror movie-tinged" style on his debut that sounds as promising as it does eerie.

Drake's View From The Top

Views offers a little bit of everything that we love, adore and are accustomed to from Drake. He is known for a unique vulnerability and angst in his translation of Hip-Hop. So, he gives that in heaps on every track even when pomp, future nostalgia or clapping-back is the focus: "Hype", "9", "Grammys" and "Still Here". But, when he focuses on the determination/love/heartache side of things he beams with a kind of purity: "Weston Road Flows", "Feel No Ways", "With You" and "Too Good". In this 20-track set one can tell Drake wanted to leave no aspect of his mystique unspoken. On Views, he fleshes it all out in his classically mellow way, yet with a more "mainstream" allure unlike his earlier works: "Controlla", "Hotline Bling" and "One Dance". In a way, Drake is declaring "I'm only gonna get bigger, I suggest you get on board." with his emotionally aware approach/brand of Hip-Hop. He knows that he is a new Hip-Hop legend in the game, and this is his view as it happens.

TWENTY88 is a interesting pairing and musical forray. The project is meant to chronicle a "fictional" famous couple's relationship ups and downs. Thus, the themes addressed here is basic stuff of R&B and Hip-Hop: $ex, monogamy, emotional trauma and healing. Yet, when they speak/sing about the topics mentioned earlier the result is familiar but oddly realistic. The undeniable chemistry between their voices makes the music poignant but cheesy (lyrically and thematically). It is almost like they are singing to one another PERSONALLY (and they may be). Which makes the subject matter/lyrics somehow possess bite. It's the classic question "Are they? Or, aren't they?" formula in CD format "trolling", or is that the whole point after all. They get hot and heavy on the sizzling 'Push It', nasty (and reckless) on 'Two Minute Warning', 'On The Way' and toxic on 'Deja Vu', 'Selfish' and 'Talk Show'. The album closer 'London Bridge' finds them reconciling in the end which lives up to the 'fictional' synopsis. Still, the music leaves more questions than answers to something obviously "fictional"... which is where a sort of genius brews under the surface of otherwise "heard it before" themes.

Cheers To The Fall is an excellent debut album. Andra Day is a modern-day Vocalist legend in the making. She really has the chops to stand next to Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn and Ella Fitzgerald. Her voice radiates the essence of Jazz, she is a beautiful reminder of that brilliant era. The album ventures into other genres like: Soul, Rock, Pop and R&B but that Jazz in her soul, adds a regal energy to those already extraordinary genres. She is truly a breath of fresh yet nostalgic air for today's $ex, drugs and party obsessed mainstream music scene. Cheers To The Fall is incredibly cohesive and gifts astounding tracks like: the scorching and smooth 'Gin & Juice (Let Go My Hand)', swinging and sassy 'Gold', sobering 'Goodbye, Goodnight', 'Not Today' and soaring 'Rise Up'. Ms. Day is musical excellence and I can't wait for what she crafts together next on her sophomore album!

Golden Moments is a nice set of Jill Scott's songs while she was with Hidden Beach. The CD consists of hits from: 'Who is Jill Scott?', 'Beautifully Human', 'The Real Thing' and '...The Vault' albums. The transition (playback-wise) between each song is reminiscent of how some Hip-Hop mixtapes are edited. Other than that, the sound is crisp and the selection is good.

This album is crazy good. Everything from the lyrics to the soundscapes propelling them further. Every song is so dreamy and electric. There is also a very eclectic mix of genres here: acid rock, alternative, funk, electronica and pop which makes it sparkle. The album has a very serene, chill yet vibrant vibe to it (if that makes any sense). Kevin Parker's vocals are very airy and sweet, even when the lyrics on some songs veer towards something emotionally heavy. Get this album and ride all it's sonic waves!

D'Angelo Compilation is Good but Basic

The songs selected here are all great. But the disc should be offered in both explicit and edited versions (this CD is edited). Also, I feel like the CD is missing some of his "underground" hits like: the fiery "$hi+, D@mn, Mo+herfuc*er", jazzy "Smooth", amazing "One Mo 'Gin" and magical "Africa". Otherwise, for those who don't mind edited CDs and only want the bigger hits of his, then this is a great choice. Also, the price is really a great bargain.

Born This Way is a strange album in both excellent and frustrated ways. The excellence barrels through in memorable jolts with: the motivational lyrics and high energy of the title track and "Hair", grimily chic "Government Hooker" and "Heavy Metal Lover". She even offers some sweetness on "You & I" and "Edge of Glory". But where she really shines is on CLASSIC cuts like the creeping "Bloody Mary", motorcycle love epics that are "Electric Chapel" and "Mary the Night". In a way, Gaga delivers some of her best work here. Yet, it falls short at times with the: partially amazing "Bad Kids", cheesy but stunning lyrical one-liners "Judas" and some song about a unicorn? (WTF). This is one of her most ambitious works (the cover art is also beautiful insanity).
