I read on some reviews that some backup drives do not copy subfiles or folders but that is not true of the 2T---it copies everything. When I plugged it in the 2T backed up the info on my hard drive (155GB files in 20 minutes). Be sure you clean up and delete files off your hard drive before you install the 2T. Delete extra links at AM-Deadlink 4.1 freeware and delete duplicate files with Auslogics Duplicate File Finder. You will be glad you did!
Go to EXPLORE after first backup to look for files. This is the tricky part if you are not familiar with file extensions. It may take you a while to find all your files. Also you will notice that you can RESTORE either one or all files at a time.
I wish I had purchased the 2T before my previous hard drive passed away. It has been an effort to try and retrieve lost info. The hard part is to realize that most if it is gone. Thanks HP for the 2T. It works great and is a good value!
