Save your money

Don't waste your money like we did. The game has basically one level and can be completed in 15-20 minutes. However, my 4 year old was bored in only 5 minutes. We have 3 other games that he loves, but this game was a poor effort.
Pros: Not engaging enough
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This product has some entertaining features, but we were really disappointed when the game prompts you to pay to use additional features. For the amount that was paid for the game it should have all features enabled. It is kind of hard to explain that to a 3year old.
Pros: Not engaging enough

Leapster Explorer encourages play and learning through a points rewards system. The more your child plays and learns, the more points she earns, which she can then use to "buy" themes, collectibles and dress up clothes for Kai-lan. She can also use her points to buy shampoo and treats for her pet.
Rewards are earned by playing the games inside LeapWorld and on supported LeapFrog handheld devices. Connect your child's handheld to the computer often to upload your child’s play data and receive LeapWorld tokens.
First, launch the LeapFrog Connect Application and click the "ENTER" button in the My Toys section.
In the My Toys screen, select your child's profile.
Once on the application's main page, click the "Go Now" button to access the LeapWorld Store. In the store you can exchange the LeapWorld tokens your child earned while playing for pet treats, shampoo, etc.
The next time you connect your child's Leapster Explorer handheld to the computer, the pet treats and shampoo will be downloaded to the handheld.

We absolutly love this game, Maybe some others didn't give it a chance but being able to dress her up plus all the different back grounds like snow, or halloween are so cute. The hunt for things like the seashells and sun fuzzies are great too. My daughter got this when she was 2 1/2 and was able to do it, now she is almost 4 and still loves it. I just love her positive attitude. She likes being able to navigate with the stilus, it is much easier for the young ones.
Pros: Fun for kids, Good for on-the-go play
I would recommend this to a friend!

My 3 1/2 year old loves this game. So far it is her favorite for the system itself. Although she has mastered most of the activities on the game since Christmas, it keeps her engaged for quite some time. She really does enjoy this game.
Pros: Good for on-the-go play, Fun for kids
I would recommend this to a friend!

BORING

I bought this and two other games for my 3 1/2 year old for Christmas and she loves Toy Story 3 and Mr. Pencil but honestly we don't even know where this game is. She played it for 10 minutes, got bored, took it out and staring playing with Mr. Pencil again. In the 3 months We've had the Explorer system she's mastered the Mr. Pencil and plays it so much she's memorized the narration, that says a lot because even as she's exhausting the other 2 games she'll still choose to play those instead of the Ni-Hao Kai-lan. She loves the show though and I thought it'd be great for teaching her more Chinese but it's not engaging enough! The Tinker Bell game is much better!
Pros: Not engaging enough
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not engaging enough

Comparing to the other games this one is not engaging enough. Either it is hard to understand the aim of the game or it is simply not fun to play. My 4 years old daughter always prefer to play other games to Kai-lan, in fact, Kai-lan just sits in her games library and is rarely played at all. I think she would not miss this game if I took it away. Or perhaps, she need some time to grow up into this one? For now i am certain this game was not the best pick for us.
