Great game

My daughter is a huge Dora fan. I have seen this game hold the attention of a 3 to 5 year olds equally while still having educational value that does not let me feel as if I am letting their brains rot. I tend to love the full games because they are such a great value even at full price and hold lots of content. If your child is a Dora fan I would definately suggest purchasing this game. My daughter has this game for several months and even though we have purchased quite a few other games and apps this one still is her favorite by far.
Pros: Good for on-the-go play, Fun for kids
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great game w/ one glitch

This is my daughter's first Leapster Explorer game and she just loves it. I really like how the game adjusts in different areas. She's good with vocabulary so at one point, it would switch to dual-labeled goals (ex. telling her to find the fish that's "verde y morado") once she showed she could find a single goal (ex. find the fish that's "azul"). However, her motor skills are just average so the game keeps the obsticles she needs to get around moving pretty slowly, and lets her scribble on versus circle targeted items.
That said there IS a significant glitch in the Peruvian section of the game (the last of the four geographic areas). Dora needs to grab a shovel and, when my daughter played, she kept hitting an inivisible wall. I had heard about this glitch from others, so it wasn't unexpected. However there's a workaround. "Borrow" the game from your kid. Restart the level. Race Dora directly to the shovel, and she'll break through the programming snafu. I dodged everything in the way - don't know if that was the trick or not, but it worked!! Hand the Explorer back to your kid and let them finish the game at their own pace. I told my daughter that there might be a possible problem with the shovel ahead of time, so there was no tears. When the shovel did indeed glitch, she calmly gave the Explorer to Mom, Mom fixed, and all was well.
Other than that, the game is awesome. I really like the interesting cultural items that Dora picks up along the way. Plus, even after you've finished the game, you have the option of buying some micromodes with the tokens your kid has racked up and buying more souvenirs, etc that your child can earn the next time they play. We've definitely enjoyed this Dora adventure.
Pros: Good for on-the-go play, Fun for kids, Grows with child

I bought this game for my 3 year old and have to pry her leap pad out of her hands to get her to stop playing. She went through all 4 adventures in a few days but is very happily replaying them over and over. I like that she's being introduced to other cultures even though she's still too young to really grasp the concept of countries. She is also picking up some Spanish and learning to follow directions. I do hope that they come out with some expansion packs for this game because she will get bored eventually.
The only other thing that I would say about this game is that it would not be a good first game for a very young child. This game you to use the controls in several different ways and also do several things at once to maneuver.
Pros: Educational, Fun for kids, Good for on-the-go play

I bought the Leapster Explorer for my daughter Brynn's 3rd birthday and she absolutely LOVES it. I bought this Dora game to go with it and she loves playing the games with her favorite character. This is a great product and she takes it everywhere we go now! I highly recommend this product.

My two year old daughter loves this game. Dora counts in spanish so it reinforces her counting and a few other words. She also told me she crossed the Atlantic Ocean! She is learning--I love it!
