Don't waste your money.

I purchased this toaster twenty four days ago, and it has already stopped working. The toaster that I replaced with this one was an off-brand, and cost around six dollars. It lasted over two years. I spent $17.99 on this Oster figuring it would be a quality appliance, and it didn't even reach the one month mark. This is going back to the store, and I will buy the cheapest toaster I can find...the cheap ones seem to last longer. If I could have given zero stars I would have.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have it since October 2010 and it never stopped working. Cleaning inside is almost impossible, but the removable tray helps a lot. At the first time using, remember to put nothing inside.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Day 1 didn't work

I just bought this toaster and when trying to push down the handle bar the toaster doesn't go down. Bad product not worth the buy.

Quite irritated

I wish I would have read the reviews before I purchased this terrible toaster. Did not work right out of the box. The locking mechanism is difficult to engage and when I finally managed to get it to stay down longer than 10 seconds the heating elements never came on. Returning this tomorrow for a cheap toaster from WalMart that will actually toast bread...

Defective from Day 1

After reading reviews of this toaster here and on other department store web sites, there is ongoing theme that the toast lever doesn't consistently stay down. My family has wrestled with this model for 18 months, It looks great, but the toaster lever won't latch- unless someone whacks it on the side just right. That got very annoying for late sleepers. Recently it stopped responding to a slap on the side, so I decided to take it apart. The root cause was a skimpy solder job on the connection to the magnetic coil. Now (at least for a while) it seems to be fixed. Why is the quality control so bad? Is it really a value to skimp on the solder?

Doesn't work

I received this toaster as a Christmas gift. For those of you wondering...yes, I asked Santa for a new toaster. Pulled it out to use or the first time today, and it does not work. As soon as the elements start to get red, it disengages. Turned the knob to the darkest setting, and it still disengages immediately. Maybe I can get a new toaster for my birthday.

So frustrated!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Have only had this toaster 7 months, and I am so disappointed. Half of the time, I can never get the toast to actual go down. We thought we were buying a higher end toaster, and it is worse than the cheaper one we had previously.

Update: These toasters still don't work. Good price, good look, however I didn't buy it to be a decoration for my kitchen. Even if the setting is the highest, it still only "toasts" for about 5 seconds at most.
