My holster got caught in the dentist's chair and broke. I was delighted that I could purchase just the holster since there was nothing wrong with the case on my phone; which I've had for 2 1/2 years. This product had done a great job protecting my iPhone. I love that I can clip my phone to my pocket or waist. The only negative thing I can say is the cover that protects the screen is a little funky. I cut it out and use the glass one from another manufacturer in its place.

The defender series of phone cases lives up to its name. I bought my first defender series case about 3 or 4 years ago. I enjoy the outdoors and the phone case had definitely been put to the test protecting my phone. It has been through all four Wisconsin seasons and the weather and elements that go with it. Hunting, fishing, ATV, motorcycle, and snowmobile riding, work in the woods, out in the fields, and in the yard at home. Its been up in treestands, slid around in tool boxes, sat in the heat and the cold in vehicle cup holders and dropped more times than I can remember. The phone case itself it sealed really well with a rubber outer shell and a plastic inner case that protects the phone and the screen. With the rubber outer shell on it, it doesn't slip and slide around on most surfaces or if your hands are wet or slippery. The case keeps your phone protected from light dust, dirt, mud, snow, and rain. I've always been able to clean the case easily with a damp cloth or wipe of some sort after a day in the dirt. It should be known the case does have an opening by the ear speaker and camera areas, so don't drop it in the pool, leave it in a downpour of rain, or use the garden hose or kitchen sink faucet to clean it, you could damage your phone. I've dropped my phone a few times from about 4 feet directly to the ground and the case protected my phone without issue. I also use the belt clip portion and I've bumped into things at hip level a time or 2 as well. I do use the belt clip portion for phone protection because it protects the screen side of the case really well. I don't suggest trying it, but one time I even accidentally dropped my phone from 12 to 15 feet in the air and it landed on concrete. Maybe it was just luck, but nothing happened to my phone and I became an Otterbox fan from that day forward. After 3 to 4 years of wear and tear and abuse on my first case, I noticed a small tear in the rubber outer shell from something I probably did. I decided the case had served me well and I bought a new one of the exact same case again. I'm not the kind of person who takes the time to type a review, but over the last 3 to 4 years I've put my phone and phone case through a lot. My phone still looks greats and I owe it the Defender phone case.

This is my second Defender series Otter Box in 3 years. The first one could've been in a commercial. It held up after being run-over, dropped from the second story of a construction site, dropped at innumerable shows, thrown by an angry relative (don't ask), and getting soaked at least twice from hanging out by a pool.
I hope the second lasts for another 3 years and cannot emphasize enough what a life saver this case has been!

Great products, but not this one

Otter Box makes great products. I've had them before and they last and last. Purchased a new iPhone 6 and Otter Box case. The rubber inner case doesn't fit well with the outer plastic one. Within a few months the thin plastic above the headphone jack broke. The plastic in this area is as thin as a hair. I'm going to upgrade to another model which I feel is too big but I need better protection. The old Commuter design was a lot better which is what I had before.
Cons: Not durable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great case; not so great screen protector

I had the Otterbox Commuter on my iPhone 5 and loved the protection it provided. I travel a lot for work and the case worked great. Easy in/out of my pockets going through the TSA checkpoints and provided great protection from drops; even protected my phone from an accidental drop on the treadmill while running. So naturally when I upgraded to the iPhone 6, the Otterbox display was my first stop for a new case. I almost chose the Defender to get a little more protection for the iPhone 6, but the Defender was too big to fit in my running arm band, so I went back to the trusty Commuter. It did take a few attempts to get the plastic outer shell to line up correctly with the silicone liner. I would have given it a 5 star rating, except for the horribly bad screen protector included with the Commuter. It is great for not hindering the screen's clarity, but it shows every finger print on the screen and is difficult to clean; the little white cloth is not enough. I'm not sure if the other screen protectors offered by Otterbox are any better, but I will be switching to a better screen protector soon.
