While the case is very sturdy and made well, I had to return it. I had purchased for my 70+ year old Dad who just got his first iPhone. The holster was very awkward for him to operate. I feared he would be dropping the phone often while removing the phone from the holster. I returned the Defender and purchased the Commuter shell. We bought a leather holster instead.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The cover is great. My only complaint is that the on/off switch is very hard to activate when you choose to shut the screen off to save power.

I work on aeroplanes and have frequently dropped my phone from an aircraft wing or whilst climbing out of the cockpit. I even left it on the roof of my car and drove off one day and it was undamaged when I found it later in the day by the roadside.

I always purchase the Otterbox Commuter Series for any new phone I get. Well worth the money, they are build well, have awesome warranty, and give me piece of mind that if I accidentally drop my phone it's protected without being bulky!
