I’ve owned one iPhone 6 that I didn’t buy an Otterbox Defender case for. I dropped it once and it hit the sweet spot. Gone. I learned my lesson quickly. I’ve dropped the replacement phone countless times, wiped out memorably after hitting an ice patch while skiing at speed with the phone in my pocket on one occasion and it still looks like new because of Otterbox Defender cases several years later. I didn’t bother researching other cases when it came time replace the old one.

This iPhone 6 is the third device I have had in an otter box. The first was an iPod touch for protection. Next was an iPhone 4s, at first for the protection and the belt holster, but the phone was also just better handling. There was more to hold onto and it was no longer slippery.
The reasons are the same for the 6, but the handling part is much more important now that the phones have become so thin and curved. The buttons are also much easier to use than when my son had it in a very thin minimally protective case that did almost nothing except make the buttons inconvenient to use.
