I got this as a late Christmas present but when it got here there was black smudges on the hard shell and part of the protective screen popped off. The smudges did come off and the screen popped back on in the end. But overall I've never had a cracked phone while using otterbox!

I have been a Otter Box Defender owner for a number of years (buying this case with holster for each of the different iPhones I have gone through). I find the holster, or what I call "the clip," very useful. When I am without it, I find it a bit of a nuisance carrying the phone when I am out and about.
I do find the holster does a few weak spots, and the user may need to keep in mind. The clip will lock itself in the open position which can be a problem at times.
