Disappointed in features missing

I previously owned a compactor but bought this new one to match other new appliances. I am disappointed because this stainless steel finish is not smudgeproof and always has finger prints and smudges on it. Also, my previous compactor had a "solid compact" setting, where the compact arm would come down and stay down until the switch was clicked to come back up. This model doesn't have this option, so the only option is that the arm comes down and goes right back up again. Therefore, this fills up more quickly that my previous compactor did and it doesn't compact as much trash as the previous one did.

After having my last compactor for almost 30 years, this one is different. It doesn't hard pack, but does a good job. I have to leave it on "off" because I accidentally hit it with my foot and turn it on. But I would never go back to a trash bags in a basket again!

We bought a GE compactors many many years back. As we upgraded all our kitchen appliances, we undertook many changes. However, we continued to repose our faith in GE - microwave, oven and dish compactor. The brand has been a good friend of our family over many years.

We just purchased a GE Profile Trash Compactor and installed it in our new kitchen. I was delighted to find the Profile since all of my other appliances are also GE Profile. Gone are the days of emptying the garbage 3-4 times a week!!! Our compactor is emptied just once a week. I don't know how I've lived with this compactor for so many years. It would have been really handy to have had when all the kids were living at home!
