Good for photo editing and color critical work, from a distance

Looking for a large monitor to multitask with, that is inexpensive, and also has accurate color after bei.ng calibrated? I found this S32D850T to be a strong contender. I almost wish there was a 27" version with the same AMVA+ panel technology, though.
The good:
* 32" is the sweet spot for 2560x1440 resolution (.276 dot pitch)
* After calibrating, colors are indistinguishable from my previous AH-IPS based panel I've compared it to
* black levels are very inky
* high contrast ratio makes the screen gorgeous to look at
* the larger size compels me to keep the monitor beyond arm's reach, which is about 36". This is around the ideal distance considering the size and viewing angles match up. 36~42" is ideal for a 1440p monitor of this size anyway.
* no major lag during gaming
* USB3 ports!
* no blacklight bleed
* no dead or stuck pixels
* includes VESA mount!
* stand has a nice wide base for stability

The bad:
* Situate the monitor closer than 32" and contrast shift will occur, getting bothersome the closer one sits to the monitor. At.24" also incurs hue shift. This is due to the structure of the AMVA panel, but for ergonomic safety, 36" away is minimum distance, and some will want it even farther back to limit neck movement.
* vertical banding is annoying when noticed, but this is not a new problem with LCD monitors/TV sets in general
* buttons feel flimsy
* stand could be sturdier where it connects to panel

All in all, only the vertical banding is an issue but it's not too detracting.
I'm still getting used to having a monitor almost 40" from me, but with accurate color and superb contrast ratio, AMVA+ is indeed suitable for color critical work for prosumers.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color
Cons: Too big

REALLY NICE SCREEN !!

I think this screen size is perfect ( 32" ), the screen has no glare at all and yet the picture still looks great.
I have been always in favor of non -coated screens as the picture is better, but this one is probably one of the best non-glossy screen I have seen . It just made more sense to go with a non glossy for my primary usage. (but would definitely buy a glossy version of this monitor if available)
All in all if your looking for a high quality monitor of this perfect size you can't do any better than this........good for games ,movies ,and enough space to make everyday stuff easy with less eye strain.

This monitor is leaps and bound in picture color, clarity & price. If you sit in front of a monitor more than 8hr like I do, this the one to get. I loved so much I bought 2.

Bought it little more than 3 years ago, warranty is 3 years and of course the display has gone bad right after that. It started showing black spots in the middle, the replacement display would cost me like 80% of the monitors worth.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Awesome business monitor

I bought this for my wife after one of her dual 19" died. She writes all day, and the ability to have multiple full size pages up is critical for her.
This monitor is incredible. I was worried that the default resolution would be a bit tiny, but with the overall size, a letter sheet is actually just a touch over life size. With careful placement, you can actually get three letter size sheets on the screen at the same time.
The adjustability of the stand is great, with plenty of movement. You can even rotate vertically if you want (it ships that way), but I can't image why you would. The matte screen is clear and bright with no dead pixels. Had to turn the brightness down quite a bit. By default the huge size of the monitor will blind you at full brightness.
It's not perfect. The stand sticks out front quite a ways, and takes quite a bit of room. The brushed metal is handsome, but more distracting than plain black. And the supplied cords are a bit short. Only about 5'. (It does come with a full set of cords though, for every input.) And there is no cord management. The cords just hang down.
For business use, I can't imagine a better monitor.

Very good monitor

The reason I bought this monitor is because my eye sight is failing. With this monitor I can make adjustments and have no difficulty seeing the text.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, ajustibility of monitor on stand.
Cons: plug sometimes comes loose.

Just the right size

I had a similar product from another company, but was only 27". 2560 x 1440 at 27" makes everything too small to view comfortably. At 32" the viewing is perfect. I was a little worried that I would have to physically turn my head to see everything, but that hasn't been a problem. A 4K monitor would be worse without going up to a 40+" monitor and then I'm sure you would have to turn your head or move the monitor off of the desk. So far, the quality of the monitor has been flawless. I haven't found any dead pixels. Well done, Samsung!
