We purchased this micro in August 2013, and ir just died March 2018...what a piece of junk.

Good features but overall quality issues

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My microwave turntable failed the first day it was installed. It would stop and start. A GE repairman arrived a week after I called and changed the turntable stepping motor. That fixed the problem.
Also, the door is hard to open and close. The latch has a low quality feel to it.
Finally, the unit makes a creaking noise when heating something, like some component inside the microwave is expanding.
Time will tell , but I have a feeling something else will fail!

This is junk. Had it 90 days and had to be repaired three times (replace circuit board, Motor, fan). Takes forever to cook anything (double the recommended time for everything)

Too hot to handle

Just remodeled my kitchen with all stainless appliances. The handle and microwave box itself get so hot from the heat rising from the gas range burners that I have to remember to use a potholder. The microwave is installed higher than the minimum height required, so that is not the problem. The handle needs some sort of heat shield, like you see on hot coffee cups. It's really bad.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this GE microwave to replace the GE that fried in the blizzard of 2013. I liked the first one ok. This one, like the first, has quick time choices - you press 1 for 1 minute, 2 for 2 minutes etc. It also has an "add 30 sec." button. On my other oven I could press 1 and then immediately add 30 seconds. Not on this one. You press 1, or 2 or whatever, and then you stand and wait for this seemingly endless delay before you are allowed to add 30 seconds. Very annoying in a busy, hurried environment. Maybe this would bother no one else, but for me, had I been able to try this device before I bought it and was thus aware of this ridiculousness, I would have bought something else. Shame we have to buy microwaves by appearance and descriptions only.
