Washer

Me and my wife are very happy so far with our new front loading washer we bought a week ago.. we had a problem with it when it was brought to us, it was not unpacked all the way right. but as for the washer it does a great job in washing cloth. the spin cycle makes the washer shake a little but figured it would with it being a front load style.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Remove the bolts!!!

The delivery men generously installed the washer. The only problem was they didn't remove the shipping bolts. We saw that the plugs were still unused, but we thought we would try the washer. During the spin mode, the machine rattled and waltzed violently. My wife wisely suggested that perhaps we should remove the bolts. I pulled the machine and finished the installation. Now it has a normal vibration (not bad) when spinning. It all makes sense. The bolts hold the drum in place during shipping but inhibit the suspension during normal installation. THE MANUAL SHOULD EMPHASIZE IN BOLD PRINT THE IMPORTANCE OF REMOVING THESE BOLTS!!!
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have had mine for about 3 years. It has a horrible odor and I have faithfully taken all the cleaning precautions. I always leave the door open after each load. Don't buy!!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Nope24, thank you for sharing your dishwasher experience with me. There are several types of smells, so I am going to address a couple. If the drain has food scraps lodged in it, the heat and water will cause bacteria to grow. Then you get a sewage smell. The drain hose might be kinked, trapping food and bacteria there. Or the drainpipe might be letting sewer gas into the dishwasher. If the problem is in the drain, you should wear gloves to remove any debris there. If it is the drain pipe, the pipe should be un-kinked. White vinegar run in a load by itself (empty dishwasher, start highest heated cycle, let fill and then add one cup of white vinegar to the bottom and let finish the cycle) will help, as would turning up the hot water on the dishwasher (120-125 degrees is the recommended temperature on your water heater). Those help kill the germs. This may also be an installation issue, and the odor trap may not have been installed correctly. What I am referring to is the drain line. The line needs a "loop", when it comes out of the dishwasher it needs to go close to the top of the cabinet, (the bottom of the counter top) then back down to the drain. Without the odor trap loop, waste water tends to back into the machine and sit with food particles. The bacteria that starts growing emits a stench. You may need to check with an installer to correct this. There should also be water left in the bottom of the dishwasher, usually 2-3 cups. This acts as a cap on any sewer gases backing up into the unit. The water in the bottom of the dishwasher is to keep sewer gas out, kind of like the trap under the sink or at the toilet. If the smell is like burned rubber, check to see if anything has fallen on the heating element. My first and only suggestion at this time would be to run the Rinse Only cycle and see if you get the burned rubber smell. Rinse only doesn't use the heating element for water heating or drying. If you notice the smell, then I suspect it may be related to the heating element, and the dishwasher would need a service appointment.
