To all appearances, the HP LaserJet Pro P1606dn printer performs well for an active home office. Nonetheless, the install instructions were too simplistic (hard copy) and difficult to work with (CD) in effecting the connection between the printer and Microsoft XP Professional. All was saved by an excellent HP support technician in India who was able to provide the necessary assistance to finally get the printer up and going. A particularly attractive and useful feature is the two-side printing.

It's a real improvement

After 17 years, my Laser Jet 5 was going great, but I no longer owned a parallel port. The 6162 is a joy, faster, easier to use, more capable. In 2030, I'll know whether it is as durable.

This printer replaces my dying 20 yr old LJ-4M. it is very easy to set up on my home network, which consist of Windows XP desktop, Windows 7 desktop, Windows 7 laptop, and MB-Pro. The Mac and laptop connects wirelessly as well as my iPhone 4s. The double sided printing is fast and a welcome addition. Some people say this printer is loud. I can live with its sound because it lets me know when the print job starts and ends. I remember the old dot matrix printers. Now they were annoyingly loud printers. Good work HP. I just hope it last as long as my LJ-4M did.

This printer is really great! I barely read the documentation, just set it up and plugged it in and it is perfect! I love printing from my phone and iPad!

This replaced a 10 year old LJ 1320. The only thing I miss is a decent paper tray like the 1320 had.

Good everyday small business printer

This printer is very compact and very fast with excellent quality output. The driver needs to be updated to be compatible with Mountain Lion. I use this printer with my MacBook Pro and it works ok but gives errors periodically due to the print driver not being up-to-date. Also, the e-print features don't work. And, I'm missing AirPrint on this machine as well. Love the built in auto duplex. The printer is a good choice for the everyday needs of a small business.

Basic printer that performs like a champ. No extra, un-needed bells and whistles, just great execution and printing. Machine is simple and effective. Recommend it as a workhorse for mass printing.
