Okay for its class--shop brands

Not really ready for Windows 8--HP even recommended using Microsoft built in driver instead of the HP. But basic functions work and I've had three of these--two broke within one year--one because foreign matter got into machine and cracked a roller. the other was a case of the grinding noise for no apparent reason syndrome. I've had a couple that have workhorse for about two years so far. Shame they didn't put a wired-network connection on the machine.
print cartridges last far shorter than other brands with comparably-featured machines but you expect that from HP. So, definitely shop around for prices on this and other brands with similarly featured machines.

Nice replacement

I got this as a replacement for a similar model that did not have wireless connection and double sided printing. The wireless set up was a little strange on a mac , otherwise every thing was straight forward. It took several tries to connect wirelessly but once it connected everything was fine. It comes out of the sleep mode quickly, faster than I thought it would. I wish the paper bin was just a little wider as I had to slightly buckle a 1/2 sheet envelope to print an address. Once it got past the paper tray everything was just fine.

It looks great on my desk

I'm happy with my new printer because it is a lot smaller than my previous printer. It only takes up a small space on my desk. I also love how easy it is to print from all my devices wirelessly. The only thing is that when I try to print from Pages on my Mac Book Pro, I am having trouble with the printer not printing to different size paper or even envelopes. The printer will not properly print the text in the formatted place. Maybe a future software update will fix that issue.

Installed the printer on Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows 8 OS on HP and Toshiba laptop computers in less than 1 hour. The install process is easy and near error free.

Right printer, right price

Easy to setup, quiet, and fast. We use this printer for low volume regular printing, and printing MICR check for our check runs. We like it a lot!
