Tips For NEWBIES

IMO, trackballs are the only way to go and all I’ve used for 25 years. For the most part, I learned PCs with a book. I couldn’t deal with a mouse right handed. I found Kensington and its ambidextrous trackball. For fear of screwing up with left/right clicking I left it set for right hand; using left ring finger for left click and thumb for right click. I still use it that way. There were no scroll rings etc. back then. Then I had a major shoulder break and couldn’t move my left arm but was able to use my fingers. Yay! I was saved!
What I want all you newbies to know is when you first use a new trackball the ball is perfectly smooth and shiny clean. Even if you try to adjust the speed and stuff it seems to go all over the place or punch multiple letters, etc.. You’ll probably think it’s a piece of crap and go back to a mouse. Don’t chuck it in the trash or take it back. The ball just needs to get dirty! Your grody finger prints are what’s needed and you’ll find a whole new world of computing or game playing without fatigue.
You can speed up the process with a bit of hand cream sometimes, or by eating a juicy burger or some pizza and giving your hands a wipe rather than a full washing. It’s kinda like having new glasses and needing some nose oil before the nose pads sit proper and comfortably. They should tell you that. 4.5 stars
I hardly ever sit at a desk, but use the tb on my leg, knee or sofa. Their only shortcoming is they can only fall on the floor just so many times before they quit working or start acting up. I’ve gone through maybe 10 of them and not one worked ‘great’ right out of the box even if my hands weren’t clean. Give it a bit of time and you’ll wonder why you suffered with a mouse so long!
I would recommend this to a friend!
