Awsome Picture; very annoying buzz at low volume

Wonderful picture quality with absolutely no motion blur. Only knock is the annoying humming/buzz from the back of the TV (audible at low volume). Samsung sent a technician who said the buzz was normal and within specs, but it is annoying to hear when there is a quiet portion of a show/movie. He said if the TV is X volume and you can't hear it from 6 feet it is ok. Too bad I hear it from 8 feet whenever the sound dips (and that is trough a 7.1 sound system). If not for the low volume buzzing issue, 5 stars.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Wow, what a TV!!!

My son convinced me to buy a Samsung after he had researched and purchased an LCD version....I have always been a Sony man. I wanted a plasma to watch sports and to locate in a room that has some direct sun during the day time (glass over the screen instead of plastic). Right out of the box this is the best TV I have ever owned. The clarity and color is incredible. I used a calibration disc to check the color and there was no need to change anything. The design of the unit hanging on the wall is awesome. I purchased a Samsung blu-ray to go with it and the two work incredibly well together. No buzz as I have read in some reviews and the sound is more than adequate, although I have connected to a Bose surround system I have had for a couple of years. No buyers remorse here, and the picture is better than I ever imagined!
I would recommend this to a friend!

I researched this purchase for several weeks before pulling the trigger and I'm confident I made the right choice.
Other than just OK sound, (which seems to be the rule, rather than the exception these days- with flat panels), it's everything I expected, and more.

Great TV - missing minor features

Fantastic picture and sound. Motion looks great.
The inability to pause video played from the network, low buzz from back, and lack of applications was a disappointment.
I like the TV very much. I would recommend it if even one of the 3 minor problems had not been there.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color, beautiful design and looks
Cons: missing basic pause feature

We use this set for most of our regular television viewing, the signal come from Hi-Def satellite and the resulting images are outstanding! We also stream music and video from a network attached computer through the AllShare process and have found this to be a handy way to catch up on shows we have missed or to listen to music while we enjoy dinner.
The movies played back from either HD-DVD or Bluray are also highly detailed and provide an excellent experience.
We are very happy with our Samsung TV and our decision to purchase it, a recommended product!

I'm torn on how to review this TV. The 58" and larger plasmas have some sort of design issue that results in a hum that can range from barely perceptible to very loud. The sound came from the SUS (?) board on my TV. This noise is extremely directional, and unfortunately, the point at which it is loudest, is when you are sitting in the "sweet spot" of the TV, directly in front of it. I received this TV through a warranty exchange from Samsung for a "B" series of the same model. I appreciated the fact that Samsung honored their warranty without any hesitation. Unfortunately, the replacement TV exhibited the same buzz as the one that was replaced. I have read much regarding this issue over the past year. It's a well known problem, and Samsung should have done something to fix it a LONG time ago.
I ended up taking this unit back and swapping out for a different brand. I was not willing to swap a bunch of these TVs out in a search for the elusive "non-humming" unit.
Picture quality with this TV is amazing, even on the lower end units. It provides a significant amount of adjustability that's not always available from other manufacturers.
If you can find one of the few of these units that does not hum, grab it and take it home with you. If you buy one be prepared to swap a bunch of them out until you get one that's quiet, and let the store that you get it from know that they need to be prepared for this eventuality so that they aren't taken by surprise.

Cons: defective design or components that hum.

We love this TV so much, we just had to buy another one!
The quality of the picture is amazing. When we put in a moviie we have already seen, the clarity is so good that we are focused on the movie as if it was our first viewing. I can't say enough about how happy we our with our purchase. The price is right too!
