Good TV but requires attention with burn in

I'll list my positive thoughts first.
This is our first plasma TV and we enjoy the picture quality, sound quality and A/V connections on the back. The remote is great. My favorite feature is the back lighting on the remote and there are plenty of reference marks on the buttons.
Everytime I call customer service, they are always very helpful. I will consider buying more samsung products just because of their professional, knowledgeable, and kind service.
The downside of the TV is the burn in that happens frequently since we love playing console games where part of the screen is static. The default settings automatically dim the screen after 20 minutes if the game displays the same image on parts of the screen. This does reduce the burn in, but makes it hard to play a game. There is a built in function to remove the burn in.
Also the media sharing by connecting the TV to the computer via ethernet isn't intuitive and the instruction in the manual for software installation and setup are lacking.
Also haven't figured out how to make the TV show the title of TV shows when watching cable. My old crt does this out of the box. I would think this TV which is much more expensive would offer the same thing.
Finally the first TV I brought home had a dead pixel in it. Fortunately the retailer allowed me to return it and the pixels on the second set are all good. I have suspicions that the retailer gave me a returned set the first time, because the second TV's packaging was different/neater.

Disappointing experience

I originally was looking at two competing televisions that were sold out and the store associate recommended this Samsung. Found some good reviews after researching but also some complaints on Samsung reliability, but I made this purchase and picked up an extended service plan (which I rarely purchase on anything). As luck would have it, less than thirty minutes into watching this set, I discovered a defect in the screen glass and clouding about this size of a quarter. In addition, there's a lot of inconsistency with the volume level, which I've reproduced on multiple channels. Lastly, the glare reduction was another disappointment as it simply wasn't effective at all, but that's more of a symptom of plasma technology in general.
Needless to say, this set will go back to the store and I'll likely refocus on Sony or Sharp again.
Pros: energy star rated
Cons: Did not meet expectations, reflective screen, inconsistent audio
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

9-10-2010, I've had the TV for two days and I can't get it to come on after turning it off for over one hour. I had a cable company install their system, they turned it on and it worked. I've had them exchange their box once, and it still doesn't come on after being off for over one hour. Once you turn it on, you hear the voices, but no picture. I play around with the remote from the company, and no dice. I don't know what else to do. I guess I'll return it for an exchange at the store where I purchased it. Other than that, the picture, when I see it, is great. I just don't know what is wrong with the picture once its off. It refuses to display right.
I would recommend this to a friend!
