This is my first plasma TV, so I am no expert. However this TV absolutely blew me away. Excellent picture and color out of the box. There are also numerous setting that can be modified to customize the picture to your taste.
I am using a Directv HD receiver and everything rocks. Spent all weekend watching NBA playoffs and a few movies and everything just looked flawless.

Have owned a six year old 720p Samsung 42" Plasma and just now upgraded to this TV - WOW - SO much better ... THIS is what 1080p High Def looks like! Very pleased and I do prefer its image over LCD's and even LCD/LED TV's.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight

Pretty good tv

Am enjoying my new plasma 50" Had a time getting the picture adjustments correct as the pic was so dark it was virtually impossible to watch. But so far has done a good job and i like it real well in combination with samsung blue-ray surround sound package. Great set up for the money.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Inexpensive, Realistic color
Cons: not a back lit tv and a dark room helps

Worth Every Penny

After thoroughly researching every issue related to purchasing a new HDTV, I chose the Samsung PN50C550. The major factors influencing my decision were value for the price and picture quality in a 50" model with 1080i resolution. After reading many reviews, I had high hopes for my new TV, and I am happy to say that I am extremely pleased with my decision. This television has surpassed my high hopes and expectations and I spent $200 less than I had originally planned! Even if I didn't save the $200 it would have been worth every penny! Research no further - Buy this TV. You will be happy you did.

Got this set in june 2010 have had no issues. Bright picture ease of setup with all features. Work great with Samsung pc share manager.
Cons: prompt info linger to long leave image !

This is my first HDTV. I did alot of research. I played in every electronics showroom. I got reviews from staff at the stores. I host a bi-weekly movie night at my home with friends from college so we don't loose touch. And since then, several of them have bought this very same model.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Realistic color

Samsung's 50" plasma television provides a great picture and sound for a great price. The internet feature of streaming video and other great applications allow me to use the television in ways that only sci fi magazines wrote about ten years ago. Samsung is on the cutting edge of technology and I'm happy to be on board during their journey into the future

One year of use and picture quality still amazes me

I have had my 50" Samsung plasma for more than a year now. I am still amazed at the picture quality and this older model still competes with anything on the market today.
My only complaint is that it does create a fair amount of heat when it is running. Overall great performance and at a great price.
I recently dropped cable and I am also impressed by the OTA tuner capabilities and the ability to lock onto stations that my home theater PC can't.
Pros: Bright display, great screen detail, over the air tuner
Cons: heat production
