Would be near-perfect if it wasn't so noisy

Overall it's a good design with a very roomy and accessible top compartment. It is very well built and has sturdy shelves. The bottom freezer drawer and its pull-out basket are a bit heavy. I would have preferred an ordinary swinging freezer door, but we couldn't find any refrigerators with that feature plus the other things that we wanted, or at least, not in a recommended brand.Two things to be aware of:1) The door seals are very efficient and there does not seem to be a vent, so you literally cannot open the refrigerator door right after you close it. The suction holds the door closed for a good 30 seconds.2) The compressor is surprisingly loud. At times the refrigerator sounds like a single-engine propeller airplane getting ready to take off. Apparently this is a trade-off for its extremely high energy efficiency. I'm going to have to build a soundproofed cabinet for it to try to quiet it down. If your home has an open floor plan, if the kitchen is near the living spaces of your home, then you will not like this refrigerator. There are other much quieter models out there, as we found out too late. Aside from that, it's great.

trouble from the start

trouble from the start---water leaked on the floor several times-before it was corrected--we had to keep cleaning it up---that is ridiculous--spend all that money and have to have repaired within a week!!--who paid use to clean up the water off the floor? nobody...!! would not recommend whirlpool products to ANYBODY!!why should the consumer have waste there time waiting on the repair person and have to be there a certain day at a certain time---it should have worked properly from the start....
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good Purchase

We purchased this bottom freezer Whirlpool Refrigerator over a month ago and noticed right away that it runs less then other refrigerators that we have had. Our settings are #2 on the freezer side and #3 for the refrigerator side. My wife was a bit skeptical at first never having a bottom freezer unit but loves the space, the ease of use and loading. Additionally, living in California, a seismic active state, I like the lower center of gravity that the unit has. I have seen top freezer units that danced in an earth quake blocking doors and even falling over. Whirlpool has a winner here in my opinion. Made in the US of A makes it special as well. Thank you,W. Love my new refrigerator!

I have been trying to see if I can take the freezer basket out completely to clean under it for crumbs and drips. I find no way to lift it out without taking the rolling mechanism apart and removing all of it also. Am I wrong about that? I would wish to just lift the basket out after emptying it without taking the rolling metal parts apart.
