Awesome pocket zoomer

I've had this camera for a week, and it's a joy to shoot with. I had the SX200, but I sold it so I could buy this one. It is definitely slimmer, and easier to slide in and out of a pocket than the SX200. The SX200 was perhaps a bit cooler-looking on the outside than the SX210 (to my taste), but I really appreciate that this model is slimmer. Also, the new manual controls on the SX210 seem much more intuitive to me, which I like. Overall, I'm glad I made the upgrade.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: manually raising and lowring the flash is awkward
I would recommend this to a friend!

Amazing picture quality and excellent features. Adequate flash for dark settings, you can adjust it as well on manual mode. Although it's located on where you usually put your fingers, it is manageable. It does cast a lens shadow on some pictures when using the flash, but if you zoom to about 10cm the shadow disappears. I wish it came with a full printed manual. You should also learn more about the manual feature to maximize it's features. Overall, it's great for a point and shoot camera.
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality
Cons: Short battery life, occasionally casts a lens shadow

Not what i hoped

I purchased this camera to replace my beloved S3 that finally got the dreaded "lens error". What was appealing to me about this camera was it size, zoom and mega pixels. Maybe the jump to a smaller camera was too much for me because i had become used to the S3 but my wife and I both found the SX210 akward to hold and the flash is not in a good spot. I was hoping the size would be a benifit as it can easily fit in a pocket.... unfortunately thats not the case for me. The zoom lens was appealing to me as the S3 had a 10x zoom and the SX210 has 14x. Not sure what the equivalants are but I think they are pretty close. The SX210 zoom range was very good and the wide angle was very good as well. The zoom control button is a bit awkward too and the power button is very awkward. Picture quality with the SX210 was the real killer for us. Mixed results! Some pictures would be great others not so much. The amount of variation in the picture quality and color tones was vast even when shotting the same subject. Pictures looked soft most of the time. The camera also felt much slower than what I was used to and missed shots were common and frustrating. HD video quality was good but not great. The focus seemed to wander a bit too much when shooting videos at close distances. The build quality was very good. We really missed the vari angle LCD of the S3. The SX210 LCD is good but does not pivot, is hard to see outdoors and sits flush with the camera body making it prone to scratches. It would have been nice if it were recessed a bit. After a week of use I returned this camera and purchased SX20. Hope it performs better. In conclusion some of the problems I had with this camera were because I was just so used the bigger S3. I could have overlooked some of those issues if the performance had been there but it wasn't.
Pros: durable, Lightweight/Portable
Cons: Poor image quality, mixed results

I love this camera

My camera is part of me, it goes everywhere I go. So I have to have one I can depend on. I bought another camera just before I bought this SX120. It did not give me the color I wanted, took it back and swapped for this one. I have had it for 6 mo. and been very pleased with it. If I am taking a closeup or a distance picture it gives me good pictures.

Menus are easy to follow, very happy to have some manual controls again. I don't like the zoom toggle, it's small and not the most comfortable to use - much better when zoom integrated with shutter button. Not a good experiment! I do wish Canon had upped the specs on the LCD - sharper viewing next time, please! Other than those two points I'm very pleased with this camera.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, excellent image quality, durable, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: zoom toggle!, lcd sharpness

I LOVE THIS CAMERA. IT HAS EVERYTHING ROLLED INTO ONE. I HAD THE CANON SX 10,A GREAT CAMERA,BUT A LITTLE ON THE LARGE SIZE FOR CARRYING AROUND ALL OF THE TIME. THIS CAMERA DOES IT ALL AND THEN SOME. THE ONLY SMALL PROBLEM(NOTHING MAJOR) IS WHEN YOU TURN ON THE CAMERA YOUR FINGER KEEPS THE FLASH FROM OPENING AND THE BATTERY LIFE COULD BE LONGER. THIS SURELY ISN'T A REASON NOT TO BUY THE CAMERA. THE PRO OUT NUMBER THE CONS 100 TO 1.
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Short battery life

Having read all of the other reviews here, I agree with most points made. I am having a particular problem with Flash shots of people being overexposed. Is anyone else having htis issue? I wrote to Canon, and they pointed out that I can go into manual mode and decrease the flash intensity. Thank you Canon, but I did read the manual and know that. I think any camera, in automatic mode, should not take overexposed photos. I own 4 Canon cameras now, and generally love their products. That being said, I am very disapointed with the flash based photos that I am taking with this camera. If I turn the flash off, the shots can be amazing, and the 1600 ISO shots have much less noise than in past models
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD
Cons: Heavy/Bulky, Complicated controls/menu
