Hasn't changed in years

I've used Turbotax since the early 90s and have never been disappointed in the basic functionality. It just works, and over the years it's become very simple to use. You can bounce around the the forms you know you need or have it step you through the interview which is good for reminding you of forgotten opportunities or reporting. The automated importing of last years return means rollovers are seamless and minimal data entry year to year, just edits. The software hasn't really changed in the last 5ish years at least, in fact even the images and text remain largely unchanged. That makes sense, Intuit is reusing what works and has been tested over a lot of years. It's just a little aggravating then, with minimal new work year to year beyond what I suspect is a lot of QA, the price continues to increase, but in addition features consistently migrate from one sku to the next higher cost sku. I understand the revenue opportunity, I just think it's being done in what seems like a greedy, in your face, whatever the traffic will bear sort of way and it does have me considering other alternatives next time around.
What's great about it: It works, fast, simple, good help and guidance and easy filing
What's not so great: Price, Annual migration of features to next tier

What's great about it: I've used turbo tax delux for years which was more than adequate for my needs
What's not so great: I was forced to get Turbo Tax premiere because the delux no longer had schedule d. Unfair

Personally I find TurboTax to be an excellent product. I only found myself confused a couple of times. Roth IRA instructions and the Form 1116 were a bit confusing. I managed to handle those issues with your software but not certain I handled them the best way.
What's great about it: Very Easy to Follow
What's not so great: Form 1116 use not very clear

User-friendly is not the same as pedantic, which the interview process is increasingly. The product would benefit from better design, and a third option between entering data directly and the "interview". Also, less development money spent on flashy appearance and more spent on improving the queries and help.
What's great about it: minimal paper
What's not so great: unnecessarily pedantic

Another Winner!

We've been using Turbo Tax for about ten years (maybe longer). Because my wife and I have a rental property, we have used the Premier version for about seven years for filing both Federal and Michigan returns.
What's great about it: The range of coverage was very good.
What's not so great: Some details were hard to follow, i.e. K-1s requiring both domestic and foreign data entries.

Great Program

I retired under Railroad Retirement. The forms are little different than the SS forms. There was no option allowing for this. I had to search around to find the correct forms to use..
