2014 personal income taxes

Overall TurboTax is a good computerized tax preparation system because its easy to use to generate federal and state tax returns for individual taxpayers. I have been a long time customer of Turbo Tax and will continue preparing my income tax returns for the coming years as long as needed. I like the interview asking questions and explanations and answers that follow. I recommend this product to friends who prepare their own tax returns.
What's great about it: I like the illustration to indicate "Which Turbo Tax is right for you? I use the Premier Investments & Rental Property
What's not so great: I dislike the updates to make late corrections or changes to tax forms, calcuations, errors etc. with no effect to my r

Easy to Use

Overall easy to use
What's great about it: Question based process, import options worked well, imported past tax information effortlessly
What's not so great: instructions on entering K-1 schedule information was light and not very clear

Documentation Gaps

First off, I want to tell you that I have been using Turbo Tax since 1986. Loved the DOS version. I gave you only a "good" rating as there were some surprises for us when we came to the actual filling. 1. Costs are not spelled out about using a credit card until you ready to push the submit button.. 2. Extra cost incurred for state e-filling. We ended up doing the paper route this year. Tennessee will take a paper check and paper return this year. Will have to deal with the e-file next year. By the way, I think its a little bit much just to e-file the state when you still have to go through their process to actually pay the money. It was nice that you gave the upgrade this year for free. Not too cool ripping code out. We'll always have Schedule D and E forms for us. Also the K1 process leaves a little bit desired as I never could figure out how to add a second foreign country for the Box 20 stuff.
What's great about it: Ease of use for most things
What's not so great: Not all forms are explained

I've used TT for many years and it is fairly easy to use. However, it is pretty evident they are planning a major price increase next year by removing an important function in Deluxe and forcing you to buy the higher priced version. I will probably be using some other software next year.
What's great about it: Pretty easy on the federal side. Confusing to go to forms from narrative.
What's not so great: State return has many confusing issues

Easy return - again

I have been using TurboTax for many years and again found it very easy to quickly create and submit my return. My only issue is that I like to have a hard copy of the return and I always manage to get 2 copies of the federal 1040 (one with the state return). Maybe it is my not paying attention and asking for 2 but this seems like it is not necessary if I am not filing by paper.
What's great about it: All I need do is answer questions.
What's not so great: Prints duplicate 1040

Solid Again

I've used this program for 10+ years and have found it easy and straight forward. Several times the program has helped remind me of some deductions that I might have missed on my own.
What's great about it: Simple step by step fill in the blank forms.
What's not so great: A few directions are a bit unclear but generally still OK

Steady as She Goes

The title is what my Dad used to say, just a favorite saying of his. TurboTax has been steady for many years for me and gets me through the tough parts and answers the critical questions. I'm sure I'll use it again next year.
