I keep getting asked for details on the sale of some or all of our family corporation. We have never sold any interest not do we contemplate ever selling any interests. This prevented us from filing electronically.

It does the heavy lifting for you

What's great about it: All you have to do is collect your information and input it, and it fills in all the forms and does the math for you
What's not so great: I inputted one bit of wrong information and it took a while to figure out where I made my mistake

Good for the most part, but....

While answering the questions about a 1099B for myself, in the middle of the questions it asked about my wife - who had nothing similar.
Some of the questions were far less than clear. If I had not been very familair with the process and the forms being built, I probably would not have answered what I needed to.
TT would not allow me to enter some of the fields that it demanded -number of shares sold for a stock 'sale' of a worthless stock for example. The bad news is that once you trip over a bug, everything else is suspect. The good news is that you can usually find some way around it, often by direct entry on the tax form or worksheet itself. Not good for the faint of heart or novice though.
Again this year, I was not able to view any forms that I hadn't already answered questions about. And in some cases forms that should have been partially done still did not appear in the forms view.
Early in the year when you'd like to create a test return and fill in some ballpark amounts directly on tax forms to plan for that last estimated tax payment, the option is simply not available.
What's great about it: Easy to use, and viewing forms directly is a good cross-check
What's not so great: Significant bugs again this year

Recent change in the Deluxe product that I have used for years for Sch D, required that I return to the store to purchase an upgrade in order to properly prepare my taxes. Not fun.
What's great about it: helps me save time
What's not so great: unexpected change of product

I cannot see doing my taxes any other way - and i can't remember when i haven't used TurboTax to do my taxes. so - this is a customer that will continue to buy every year -

2014 Turbo Tax Review

I bought a version of Turbo Tax that in previous years included the rental information but Turbo Tax took that out and sent me an email stating that it was not in there this year. They said I could upgrade for a fee and later they said it would be added to my version for this one year at no cost.
I'm assuming that it will cost more money next year so I'm going to shop around for other tax programs. I was offended by their actions and changes. Turbo Tax is more expensive than the other tax programs but I have been using it for more than 10 years so I have continued. Maybe next year I will change.
What's great about it: computerized forms and input
What's not so great: Some functions were taken out (rental analysis)
