Love it!

I've been using TurboTax for over 10 years now and it is the easiest, most economical, and best way to file your returns. Some say it costs too much but if you went to a tax professional or CPA believe me, you'd be paying a lot more money. I've never had one issue in all these years and they cover everything. At first my returns were simple, but then I had rental property and it was still easy. Then I sold the rental property and it still was easy. I don't think I'll ever stop using Turbo Tax, the tax code is too darned difficult to understand!! Thanks to your programmers for developing a great product that meets my needs!!
What's great about it: Easy and understandable

Straight Forward

TurboTax is the easiest and most accurate way to file taxes, the program asks questions to cover most all situations and explains your options. You have to gather all the information, which is the hard part and then give it to your tax prepare. Why not input the numbers yourself.
What's great about it: download of trades direct from stock broker
What's not so great: all tax lines do not line up with quickbooks entries

Another easy year with Turbo Tax

I have been using Turbo Tax for many years and find it very easy to navigate. I like that TT can pull info from the prior year's return and pre-fill in many parts. I do not download 1099 data but enter all the info myself (I like to remain in control) . It is not a difficult task. The most time-consuming part for me is to compute cost basis for non-covered sales and to compute Schedule A itemized deductions. I do a sanity check prior to filing to make sure that info I have entered gets into the correct form. As long as our finances continue to consist of reported income on 1099s and W2s then using Turbo Tax should be fine. I think if we were to get into anything complex with real estate or Schedule C then I might consider using a tax professional. For now, I am delighted to use Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: Very easy to use when most of your input is reported to the IRS.
What's not so great: Hard to jump back and forth between sections when you use the option to look at everything

Good product, but sometimes bugs

While the product generally works (albeit requiring an aggravating upgrade to the Premier version, to handle Schedule D), there are LOTS AND LOTS of BUGS relating to investments. It does not import correctly from TD Ameritrade, and if you try to change categories (say, from B to E) it also randomly changes the categories of OTHER transactions, and does NOT change all of those selected, requiring DELETION of the entries to change, and then MANUAL RE-Entry. It also does not import Collectible designations correctly, even after putting them in explicitly in step-by-step mode, requiring RE-ENTRY in FORMS MODE. 8P
What's great about it: In the end, the calculations came out OK
What's not so great: BUGS BUGS BUGS BUGS BUGS

Importing Data from Financial Institutions
on April 9, 2015

Importing data from financial institutions is such an easy way to go I will always do it if I can. But read the options carefully. It's all there but you have to be careful about what you choose. The rest of the program is almost idiot-proof. This section is not. (Of course, I may be an idiot.) It requires that you read, interpret correctly, and make choices. Intuit could improve this section of the program to make it a bit less confusing.
What's great about it: Wonderful when you can do it.
What's not so great: Complex instructions to get it done.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Very Disappointed

When I finished the first time I owed a large amount. I then reviewed everything and the program failed to question me about sales tax. Whenever I had a question it sent me to Community. I want to be able to correspond with a Tax Expert not Joe from off the street.
What's great about it: I've used Turbo Tax for years
What's not so great: Why do you keep the same people's picture on the program?

Efficient use of time

Been using ever since Reagan Admin improved tax forms. I tend to fill in form as I get info from various sources . Find it easy to use on my own & to go back to particular activity. One problem is when I see a value on form & not sure its source, almost impossible to find original source. Several years ago Turbo tax did include way to find source. All in all well worth the cost for Delux.
What's great about it: Eaasy to follow on ones own
What's not so great: Difficult to find source of final value on form
Pros: I bought or sold investments
